After American Idol closes out a very successful season, the next question is who will return to judge. Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler will be back, but what about Jennifer Lopez? Keep reading to see if she plans to return to the show.
FOX News reports that Steven Tyler signed a multi-year contract that will ensure he returns for the 11th season of American Idol with Randy Jackson. Pop culture expert Mikey Glazer told Fox, “They can’t get rid of Tyler, he’s the new Paula.” As for Jennifer Lopez, he said, “It’s too early to tell.” Apparently, Lopez only signed a one-year deal for far less money. FOX Chief Peter Rice revealed, “Everyone has multiple year contracts; Jennifer had single year contract, we loved having her, the hope and expectation is she’ll return.”
Many are hoping that Lopez will return, as both she and Tyler were considered to be successful replacements to fill the void left by Simon Cowell. Producer/composer Jed Smith of music firm BetaFish said, “Even though Cowell judged with an inimitable dry wit and brought a truly irreplaceable sense of spectacle to ‘Idol,’ the cohesive and energetic unit that Tyler, Lopez and Jackson present makes for a show that is compelling in an entirely different way. I think J-Lo and Tyler are a lock for next season. He’s already coming back, and she brought a lovely vibrancy that really offsets the absence of Cowell.”
Hopefully, Lopez will return and an announcement will be made soon on what to expect for next season.
