American Idol: James Durbin Rocks Out With Judas Priest

May 26, 2011 01:00 PM by Allyson Wells

The American Idol season finale closed with a bang-a loud heavy metal one.  Former contestant James Durbin returned to sing with one of his favorite heavy metal rock bands, Judas Priest.  The singer performed a medley of the band’s most popular hits, as the band debuted a new guitarist.

Judas Priest debuted their new guitarist, Richie Faulker, to close out the season on American Idol.  James Durbin, a major fan of the band, ripped through a medley of hits including “Living After Midnight” and “Breakin the Law” from their classic British Steel album.  Durbin impressed judges Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler earlier in the season when he covered the Judas Priest song, “You’ve Got Another Thing Comin.”  All of these songs showcase a multi-octave range for Durbin.

Judas Priest is currently getting ready to embark on a final world tour to close out a 40 year career.  while the band is working on recording new material, their tour will be the last chance fans can see the band live.  How cool for James Durbin to be able to perform with one of his favorite bands as they prepare to embark on their final tour.  While he may not have won American Idol, performing with your favorite band has to be a nice consolation prize.  Maybe he’ll pop up at one of their shows or on their new album.  Undoubtedly, James looks to have a career in rock after rocking out with legend Rob Halford.  Reality TV Magazine will continue to look for news on James Durbin’s future rocking plans.
