Simon who? Last night we saw Scotty McCreery win season ten of American Idol on FOX in what was an epic battle of the Country artists between he and Lauren Alaina. Today, the ratings are in – and the show saw an increase versus last season. Keep reading for more!
Not only is Scotty McCreery smiling today, but so is American Idol and Fox as the finale results show managed to not only break voting records with 122 million votes, but they have also seen a nice increase in ratings as well! Despite the worry that Simon Cowell’s absence would deter folks from watching, the results show last night was actually up 17% from last year’s finale results show. With over 28 million viewers and a 9+ rating for adults 18-49, the show was up 4 million viewers from last season – guess no one was missing Simon last night!
Tuesday evening, American Idol fell shy of last year’s ratings, but they also had to contend with several other season finales on that night as well, such as the Dancing With The Stars live results show and The Biggest Loser finale on NBC. All in all, Fox and Idol have something to celebrate as this is the first time the show has seen year to year ratings growth for a finale in that demo since 2006 and in total viewers since 2008. So again we ask – Simon, who?
