Gary Shirley, who has been featured on both MTV shows – 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom – was arrested on May 24th in Alexandria, Indiana. Keep reading to find out why authorities had to use two sets of handcuffs during his arrest.
According to reports, obtained by RadarOnline, Gary was sitting in his parked car and arguing with Amber Portwood. Gary and Amber have an off-and-on type of relationship and share a 2-year old daughter together, Leah.
An officer, who heard arguing, approached the car and according to the report said, “I asked the male sitting in the driver seat if everything was ok and he advised yes. The female advised that everything was fine. I advised them that I had heard them arguing and wanted to make sure,” the report states. “I asked them both for identification….” When Gary provided the officer with his identification the officer realized Gary was driving with a suspended license. Last September, Gary received a ticket for a seat belt violation and later his license was suspended.
The officer arrested Gary on misdemeanor charges and stated in the report, “I placed Mr. Shirley in two (2) sets of handcuffs due to his size. Both sets of handcuffs were checked for tightness and double locked.” Gary was later released on $3,000 bond.
Viewers have seen a lot of arguing and violence in this rocky relationship play out on TV. Leah was charged with domestic violence last November when a fight between her and Gary aired on an episode of MTV. Will this arrest be the final breaking point of their relationship?
