On the season ten finale of American Idol on FOX this week, most people thought that Lauren Alaina had it in the bag – until the results were revealed. In an interview with Lauren, she talks about her experience as well as her relationship with winner, Scotty McCreery. Keep reading to hear everything this cute Country gal wanted to share!
American Idol fans watched two Country music fanatics battle it out this week for the season ten crown. Although she did not win, Lauren Alaina couldn’t be more happy for Scotty McCreery. In a press conference after her lose, Lauren dishes about the show among many other things. Here is what Lauren wanted to share:
Question: How difficult was it to perform with vocal cord issues for you?
Lauren Alaina: The show must go on, always. The doctor came in and took really good care of me. I knew I just had to go out there and do the best I could.
Question: Why do you love Country music so much?
Lauren Alaina: You know, I was raised on it. My parents listen to it and it’s in my heart.
Question: Are you and Scotty dating?
Lauren Alaina: No, we’re not – we’re just friends.
Question: How much weight did you lose by the end of the show?
Lauren Alaina: About 16 lbs maybe.
Question: Are you going to keep at it?
Lauren Alaina: Yes, I haven’t had much of a chance to workout, but I plan to. I will get to the point where I want to be, not where everyone else thinks I should be.
Question: What did you learn about yourself from the show?
Lauren Alaina: I had a lot of confidence before the show. Seeing myself on television while being my worst critic, threw me back a couple of notches. I feel like that was a good thing because I needed to realize there’s always something you can work on about yourself. The things I didn’t like about myself, I worked on the whole time I was on the show and really tried to improve myself. It was really helpful for me to grow as a person and as an artist.
Question: Is there anything you would like people to know about you that we didn’t learn on the show?
Lauren Alaina: Yes, I’m not really a blonde. People call me a dumb blonde, but I’m not. I’m actually really smart, I love to go to school. My favorite subject is math and I like going to school more than anything.
Question: What was going through your mind as you waited for the results?
Lauren Alaina: I felt like it was going to be Scotty. Things happen for a reason, and God has a different plan for me I guess.
Question: What were you and Scotty whispering about at the end of the show Tuesday?
Lauren Alaina: He told me I was going to win, and I told him that he was going to win.
Question: You seemed really happy for Scotty?
Lauren Alaina: I will be happy for Scotty forever. I’ve been saying all along that, no matter what happened, and if it came down to me and Scotty, I’d be happy either way, because we’re such great friends. I truly mean that. He’s so talented. He’s got the look. He sings the same kind of music that I sings and he loves Jesus. I couldn’t have picked a better person to come in second place to.
Question: Who chose “Before He Cheats”, you or Carrie Underwood for your performance on Wednesday?
Lauren Alaina: Carrie chose it.
Question: Since you took the stage, you have become a role model for girls everywhere, what are your thoughts about that?
Lauren Alaina: After the show we went to a party last night for all the contestants on the show and Carrie invited me back to her area and let me sit with her and talk with her. It was amazing to see someone I had looked up to for so long was actually the person I thought and hoped she was. I want girls to feel that way about me when they meet me, to know that I’m actually the way I’m portrayed on television. You know, I’m not fake, and I don’t want to mislead people as to who I am. I pull jokes a lot, but I can be serious also – I cry a lot, and everyone knows that. It’s just who I am. I do not plan on changing who I am for anything. I’ve always looked up to Carrie. That would be the greatest thing in the world, for a little girl to look up to me like I look up to her.
Lauren thanked everyone for their support! Kudos to Lauren for making it this far and I am sure this will not be the last we hear of her!
