Simon Cowell‘s X Factor on FOX hasn’t even aired yet and the drama is already beginning. While it was recently confirmed that Cheryl Cole and Paula Abdul would be joining the judging panel, things have taken a dramatic turn leaving Cheryl Cole axed from the show – and you won’t believe the reason behind it! Read on for more..
Cheryl Cole’s role on X Factor has got to be one of the shortest lived Reality gig ever – after less than a month on the judging panel, reports have surfaced that the judge from the UK version has been officially let go from the US version of the show only days after she pleaded with the audience to bear with her accent. But was her accent to blame for her firing? And why not give America the chance to get used to her accent?
That sure is what the buzz around the web says as Cheryl Cole, who had only started taping two weeks ago, has been fired as producers were concerned her Geordie accent would be too difficult for the American audience to understand. But other sources say otherwise as TMZ is reporting that she was canned because of her ‘lack chemistry’ with fellow judge Paula Abdul and that Fox was not happy with the overall chemistry of the four judges.
Sources told US Magazine “She isn’t on the show anymore. Everyone is gobsmacked. This came out of nowhere. She had already been tested countless times. Simon had nothing to do with it. This is the network’s doing.” Despite suggestions of Cheryl going back to the UK version of the show, Cheryl is reportedly beyond upset and considering severing all ties with the network – can’t say I blame her if she did.
Don’t worry though, this will not affect the timing of the show’s premiere this fall as a replacement has already jumped in. She will be replaced as a judge by Nicole Scherzinger, who had been signed on to be a co-host on the with Steve Jones. Nicole Scherzinger has already replaced Cheryl on the UK version when Cheryl fell ill and according to folks who have tuned in over there, there is no lack of chemistry between Nicole and Simon – but it will be interesting to see how she works with Paula Abdul.
Do you think Cheryl Cole was rightfully fired, or should the show have given America more of a chance to get to know and understand her? Comment and share your thoughts with us!
