America’s Got Talent: Season Six Premiere – Los Angeles and Atlanta Auditions

May 31, 2011 07:13 PM by Lisa Princ

Nick Cannon, Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne, and Howie Mandel are back tonight for the two hour season six premiere of America’s Got Talent on NBC. As the auditions head to Los Angeles and Atlanta tonight, we will see some of the craziest, funniest and most dangerous acts to date! Keep reading for all the details of tonight’s premiere!

America’s Got Talent kicked off their sixth season premiere tonight with auditions in Los Angeles and the battle of the judges was immediate as Howie joked that he was going to torment Piers all season long to which Piers replied “bring it on baldy”. The comedy followed through to the first audition as we met 50 year old Frank Olivier who came out donning a unicycle and some sticks for a juggling act. But he requested the help of Howie to hand him the sticks once he was the unicycle which had us all laughing as he wound up touching Howie’s head and almost setting him on fire as he lit the sticks to juggle them. Of course Howie almost immediate buzzed his red X while Piers and Sharon loved him and sent him through to Vegas.

Ryan Andreas, a 34 year old IT specialist was up next with a piano and a song. Ryan performed “In the Arms Of An Angel” by Sarah McLachlan, but you could tell he was very nervous. The performance and his voice were awesome and the audience loved him. When it came time to judge, Sharon asked him how many times he had performed in front of an audience to which he replied “never” and she gushed that he blew her away. Howie called him “a diamond in the rough” and said he has the right tools while giving him a yes. Piers said it was a yes as well as Sharon, who told Ryan he would be headed to Vegas.

John Jacobson, a school teacher was up next to try and teach the audience a dance that he supposedly taught one of his students that wound up with millions of hits on YouTube. Not sure how that is possible, but this guy and his dance instruction was corny, despite Howie dancing around like a fool with him. Needless to say it was an immediate no and nothing but boo’s from the audience and Piers even hit Howie’s button! The bad auditions followed through from there with screaming wannabe singer, a man trying to jump through a rope while on a horse (and falling off the horse instead) to a man impersonating the judges’ farts!

America’s Got Talent’s season six auditions continued with a magician. 26 year old Landon Swang told us that he wanted to the best magician in history and he really impressed with a great magic trick of making a woman disappear. The judges loved him as did the audience and he got sent through to Vegas. The talent kept coming after that with the body poets who performed a neat dance complete with laser lights, and Brennan Figari who performed on aerial silks. We also met Olivia Bellafontaine, a burlesque rock dancer who got sent to Vegas as Howie pleaded with his wife that he was only doing it for Piers!

Then we saw the Vegas birds, aka Debbie her parrot Danny, who talked his way into the judges hearts and was sent to Vegas with as long as Debbie promised to bring her magician bird and mind reading bird to Vegas with her. Then we saw what was probably the most dangerous act ever in Frank Myles. Frank, who had been juggling since he was 15, decided to bring 3 500,000 volt stun guns and juggle them while they were turned on. If that was dangerous enough, Frank made it more dangerous by stepping into a bucket of water while juggling. The judges were so impressed they sent him through – although he agreed to attempt more suicide stunts in Vegas for Piers.

The Los Angeles auditions ended with Ubi Abagnale who tried to sing “Hot Hot Hot” with two back up dancers but was immediately shut down by the judges. Nick Cannon thought he would be funny however and get them to endure another round of this horrific trio and when he cued the music a third time and joined them on stage, Howie, Piers and Sharon walked out the building!

The season six auditions of America’s Got Talent continued in Atlanta with a group of dancers called Miami all stars, a husband and wife team joined by their many children, nieces and nephews all performing together. This perfectly choreographed act was enough to get the “family” sent through to Vegas. Then we saw our next magic act of the evening with Scott Alexander who made a woman appear, followed by 12 year old Preston Weber, a flame thrower or flame stuntman and The Yellow design stunt team who did a bike trick. All of these acts were sent through to Las Vegas.

Next up was tiny trio, SH’Boss boys, a 5, 6 and 7 year old singing group. These boys were adorable, when Sharon asked what they would do with a million dollars one of them replied with making sure homeless children had toys to play with all day. They came out and performed a cute rap number and told the judges they thought they could win the show – the judges couldn’t do anything but send these three kids to Vegas. Following the cute trio was an awful singing and dancing act who wound up falling off the stage with his robotic routine – needless to say no one was impressed.

And the bad acts kept following, including an awful group that was quick to talk back to Sharon, followed by another group of old men in diapers with big lollipops – were they serious? Then we met Metatron, the angel of light and the show just kept getting weirder and weirder until Metatron fell off the stage. Finally we met Nicole and Mike, a sword fighting couple who want to take their act to Vegas and immediately after hitting the stage Sharon buzzed, followed by Howie. In a comical twist, Howie challenged Piers to a sword fighting duel and we watched them duke it out on stage.

Ending the auditions tonight was a dance group who performed in the dark covered by neon lights. Illuminate was the group’s name and the audience as well as the judges, loved them. Piers commented that it was the single most exciting audition he had seen on the show, and for good reason, the act was perfectly planned out and put together.

The 12 year old Preston Weber is a Samoan Fire Knife Dancer. He is the 2010 Jr. World Fire Knife Champion. Look him up on youtube. He learned from watching youtube videos and he is the world champion. That was a huge sharp knife with a hook on the end of the blade. Give the kid huge kudos. They should have shown his entire performance. If they did, everyone would understand why the entire audience was on their feet from the time he licked the knife. Great job Preston. We will see you in Hollywood for sure unless they are afraid of him winning.
