The season isn’t even over yet, but the ratings of NBC‘s latest reality hit The Voice are so strong, the network has already announced that the series is coming back for a second season, and the premiere, featuring the first round of Blind Auditions, will air on February 5th, following the Super Bowl! Will the show’s original celeb coaches – Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Cee Lo Green, and Christina Aguilera – all be back for Season 2? Find out after the jump!
With the most recent episode of NBC’s The Voice jumping a whopping 69% in viewership last night, it’s no surprise to fans of the new reality show that it will be returning for Season 2 in February. And to give it the proper roll-out, which is in our opinion (and NBC’s as well) only deserving of a show of that some thought would never be able to rival American Idol, the network has announced that the season premiere of The Voice will air promptly after one of the highest rated televised events — the Super Bowl!
Great news; especially for NFL fans who fear that there won’t even be a 2011-2012 football season. At least if the whole contract dispute thing doesn’t get settled, you’ll still have The Voice to look forward to, right? And who doesn’t love the Blind Auditions?!
Of course, the big question on everyone’s mind is if the four celebrity coaches that helped make the show a success will be returning for season 2. And luckily, the answer to that one is simple — YES! Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera, and Blake Shelton will all be back, along with host Carson Daly! No word yet on whether or not the series will use the same mentors/advisers in the second season, but if you ask us (and of course you would), having the flexibility to bring in 4 different celebs to fill those spots every year, while maintaining the same coaches fans have come to know and love (even more, that is), only gives the show an advantage over Idol and others.
Either way they decide to do it, we’re sure The Voice is going to be around for quite some time!
Don’t forget, next week, The Voice is LIVE! Watch as the next phase of the competition unfolds and YOU, the fans, finally get the chance to get in on the action! The show starts at a special time – 9|8c! See you there!
