Bravo‘s new songwriting competition, Platinum Hit with former American Idol judge, Kara DioGuardi debuted this week. After the premiere, Kara shared why she is so tough on the contestants – keep reading for more…
On this week’s premiere of Platinum Hit, we watched as Kara DioGuardi who came across as the sweet judge on American was actually tougher on the contestants. After the show Kara said the reason is that “the goal is to create a hit, which is one of the hardest things to do. Also, the music industry is full of rejection. Part of the goal in my mind is to get these contestants ready for the music business, which is cutthroat and competitive. If you only tell them how great they are (when they really aren’t at times) you’re not doing them any favors. They need to hear what they are doing wrong in order to correct it.”
So why exactly was Kara DioGuardi not using this theory on American Idol? We may never know but at least these contestants may learn something from her, since she is a songwriter herself after all. Kara also says that we will see the contestants make incredible improvements during the season due to the criticism of the judges. Personally, I think this show is one of Bravo’s best and cannot wait to see what the contestants have to do next.
