Despite attempts to get her back on FOX‘s X Factor, Cheryl Cole has apparently turned them down as an announcement yesterday confirmed that Nicole Sherzinger will be replacing Cheryl on the judging panel. Simon Cowell is taking responsibility for Cheryl being juggled around and says he was “protecting” her. Want to hear what else Simon had to say? Keep reading for more details!
After all the speculation and rumors surrounding the judging panel on the US X Factor, it was announced yesterday that Cheryl Cole will not be returning and Nicole Sherzinger will definitely be replacing her. Simon Cowell is taking responsibility for all the chaos and he insists that Cheryl was not “fired” as he stated “The feeling was that she was slightly out of her comfort zone in America. The intention was to do it quietly and say to her she had an option to rejoin the UK show…. At the end of the day we were saying, ‘Move to another show for even more money’. There was an offer of around £2.5 million on the table including bonuses. How is that firing someone?”
Simon Cowell told The Sun that “I embarrassed her. … But the truth was I was protecting her. I just want people to be in the best place at the right time” and according to him, he sent Cheryl a text message when she expressed her hurt over the debacle telling her that it was not “personal” or “that she was terrible” because she was great – he just felt she would be more comfortable in the UK.
After neither Cheryl Cole or her rep would take calls from anyone on this, Simon says is when they decided to invite her back to the show, but after some heated discussions, the producers decided to stick with Nicole Sherzinger. Cheryl has not yet made any public comments about any of this, but a source close to Cheryl told The Sun “she just wants to take a break from all this and look to the future.” We certainly cannot say we blame her, however would have loved to see her on the show.
