Lance Bass Reveals Plans For New VH1 Boy Band Show

June 20, 2011 07:00 AM by Kristin Watson

Lance Bass is getting ready to give the public what they want – more boy bands! The 90’s boy band cutie from *NSYNC has been busy selling a few shows and one just happens to be a boy band competition series for VH1.

Lance Bass recently spoke with New York Magazine, revealing he’s sparked a sale in six reality shows including one that pits boy band alums against each other in a competition reality series that follows the molding of new boy band singers.

Lance Bass said of the VH1 series, “It’s a really great music show, starring all your favorite boy bands. It’s going to be really fun.”

According to Bass, the show will feature the Backstreet Boys’ A.J. McLean, Joey Fatone from *NSYNC, New Kids on the Block’s Joey McIntyre and wait for it — Bobby Brown from New Edition.

Bobby Brown hasn’t officially agreed to the show, but Bass has confidence he’ll come around. “I think Bobby will do it,” Bass said. “I think he’d love it!”

Our fingers and toes are crossed on that one! That would be the best addition to the series —  ever!

Lance Bass said the format of the show pits all the pros against each other to find the best boy band in America. “They’re all going to form a boy band, each, from the most talented guys in America that I’ve scouted, and then they’ll go head-to-head in a competition to see who the best band is,” Bass revealed, adding, “It’s bragging rights for the guy in the group, for sure.”

What do you think of Lance Bass’ new adventure in boy band town? Can you get down with it or are you happy with the music shows currently in rotation?

Isn’t this the same concept of The Voice? Maybe Bass should find some originality before trying to sell a show that is already on the air…

Just so every one knows Joey Mcintyre from New Kids On The Block has stated on his Twitter account ( http://www.twitter.com/joeymcintyre ) that he will NOT be a part of this . Joey said “The rumors of me doing Lance’s “boyband” show are just that- rumors. I wish him all the best with the show. Sounds fun.”

God help us all. Just because he’s a washed up boy band member and gay as a picnic basket, we have to keep this summabeech in the headlines. Go away gay people!

This man is desperate for attention. He was on “Dancing with the Stars” for the wrong reasons. It was because ABC wanted to gain a gay fan base on that show while Callie & Erica were doing that on “Grey’s Anatomy.” This is what GLAAD said, “the network has a good history of pushing the man-on-man envelope. ‘ABC has shown an admirable commitment to representing gay people on many of their most popular shows.”

Interesting. I feel that the boy band craze is unfortunately coming back, i.e. Big Time Rush. Maybe this show will backfire and put the craze to to sleep.

Lance Bass just needs to disappear! He is clearly hurting for money. He needs to get over the whole boy band thing and stop being bitter that Nsync is not and SHOULD

It’s exactly like The Voice, only without any diversity because all the groups would be so similar. I mean, best of luck to him. I love N*SYNC and I love Lance. But I don’t see this going anywhere. It’s just a sub-par version of something that’s already on the air…
