The Voice Results Show Recap: Which Artists Did America Save?

June 22, 2011 06:58 PM by Shayla Perry

Tonight, on a special (slightly delayed) LIVE Results episode, it’s time to narrow the field from 8 talented artists to 4. Which contestants did you vote to keep on the show and compete for the grand prize and the title of The Voice?

The eight final artists kicked off the LIVE NBC show with a group performance; a medley of George Michael songs.

Now, for the hard part…

After a review of their performances from last night’s show, Carson Daly’s thinly veiled attempts to make them cry, and a poem from their coach, it’s time for one of the members of Team Cee Lo to be eliminated.

A note about how things will work tonight:

As you saw last night, the coaches each had 100 points to divide between their two finalists. Tonight, those points will be added to the viewer votes, and the artist with the highest score goes on to the next round.

Last night, Cee Lo distributed his 100 points as such:

Nakia: 51

Vicci Martinez: 49

Adding your votes…

Nakia: 76

Vicci Martinez: 124

So, Vicci Martinez will represent Team Cee Lo in the finals.

Next, a performance from Cee Lo of his new hit, “Bright Lights, Bigger City.”

He sure loves his wigs.

Next, Javier Colon and Casey Weston of Team Adam face elimination (quick, taking bets on who’s gonna win this one!).

Adam Levine distributed his points as such…

Casey: 35

Javier: 65

Adam explains that the decision was made not as a reflection of their talent, but because Casey is so young and has so far to go with her career, and because he wants to make sure that Javier makes it to the end of the competition and finally realizes his dream.

With America’s votes…

Casey: 62

Javier: 138

So, it comes as no surprise that Javier Colon will be competing in the finals for Adam Levine.

After getting a taste of celeb life on the road with their coach, Big Daddy Blake Shelton, the time has come for either Dia Frampton or Xenia to part ways.

No shocker here. Blake divided his points evenly between the two.

Dia Frampton: 50

Xenia: 50

In an emotional reveal, it’s a close one, but America has decided…

Dia Frampton: 106

Xenia: 94

For Team Christina, coach Aguilera also distributed her points evenly.

Beverly McClellan: 50

Frenchie: 50

And in another close competition, America voted…

Beverly McClellan: 107

Frenchie: 93

So, heading to the finals, it’ll be Vicci Martinez, Javier Colon, Dia Frampton, and Beverly McClellan.

What do you think of tonight’s results? Are the right artists going through to the finals? Who do you think will win it all?

What Adam Levine did was terrible and ruins the whole premise of “The Voice”. I thought what made “The Voice” different was that the coaches would try to help all the singers. Adam Levine went out of his way to sabotage Casey Weston, he did not let her sing the song the way she wanted (which she sounded better singing her way), he gave her faint praise, and he pushed Javier to the public voting by saying he was the best singer ever, then “Levine handicapped the numbers and gave Casey a very sad 35 and Javier a 65” and he even admitted he was rigging the show so that Javier Colon could win. If The Voice wants any credibility going forward they have to get rid of Adam Levine as a judge.

Also there is too many fishy things going on at “The Voice”: the whole voting thing looks very murky, and how much of “The Voice” is lip synching? It is obvious by all the commercials featuring Javier Colon they want him to win.
I like Javier Colon as a singer, but the way “The Voice” is pushing him will lead many people not to like him. If the show is rigged like Adam Levine alluded to, people will be put off by the show and Javier Colon. It is a shame because I thought Javier Colon could win the show on his own merits without any funny business.
“The Voice” is losing a lot of credibility and that is why the ratings are dropping.
