Gene Simmons Family Jewels: KISS Your Family Goodbye

June 23, 2011 07:00 AM by Lucille Barilla

Lines get drawn in the Simmons family in the latest installment of Gene Simmons Family Jewels, as the kids make tough choices about their feelings towards their parents. Always thought of as an indestructible force of rock and roll nature, Gene Simmons shows that he too, is human, on this week’s episode of Gene Simmons Family Jewels. A remorse Gene tries to figure out how to make things right with Shannon, his partner of 27 years, through ongoing sessions with a therapist.

After a therapy session gone horribly wrong, Shannon packs a bag and moves out of the family home into an hotel. Gene returns home from a therapist appointment to find a note from Shannon and an empty house. Alone for the first time in his life, Gene is lost and admits to his therapist, Dr. Wexler, that, “I f**ked up! It’s really interesting, it doesn’t feel like a home, it feels like a house.I paid to have it built, but I didn’t make it into a home.”

Meanwhile, Shannon visits her sister, Tracey and her children, and reveals what transpired between her and Gene. Said a tearful Shannon, “I have to decide what I want, the kids are cooked and everybody got what they want but me in our marriage.” Both Nick and an away-at-college Sophie find out what happened between their parents after Nick returns home to pick up some items and Gene reveals Shannon’s moved out. Sophie goes to her mother and they have a heart-to-heart about the situation. Shannon reveals to her daughter about her and Gene’s relationship, “People don’t hear your personal commitments and understandings.” Nick finally confronts his father about his rock and roll lifestyle by saying, “What would you do if a guy hurt your mom?” A confused Gene replied thoughtfully, “I’d confront him and say, ‘You can’t hurt my mom!’ ” Walking out of the room, Nick stated, “Something to think about.”

In the following episode of Gene Simmons Family Jewels, titled “You always hurt the ones you love”, a lonely Gene buries himself in work , while trying to figure out how to win her back and say he’s sorry. He deals with control issues, thinking if he gives up control of his life, it makes him weak. Sophie controls a situation that could end up perilous when Gene is left alone in a club with women circling him. Meanwhile, Nick and Sophie bring Mom and Dad together for a special performance in hopes their parent’s will reconcile. Gene tells Shannon later that evening, “This is where you belong.”

After the show aired, Shannon tweeted, “In the end, I belong with my family. It is a work in progress, but we are trying.”

I think Shannon should live the same lifestyle that Gene lives so he can see first hand how much it hurts, I believe this is the only way that he can see past himself, he thinks of himself as a God. Well guess what Mr. Simmons, Shannon is a Godess. Shannon is a gorgeous woman with a beautiful personality and she certainly can get as many men for herself as Gene can women, possibly more because she really has more heart to offer them then Gene seems capable of giving to anyone. I realize she doesn’t want anyone but Gene but he is incapable of giving her this at this point. I believe if she moves on and literally shows him that she can get what she wants too and marriage is what she wants. I believe if the word got out that Shannon Tweed is looking for a husband to marry that thousands of men will gladly apply for this position and many other positions as well. Let him see her with other men in the papers and on television. Let him see what she sees everyday and maybe then he could understand her and would be willing to commit to a marriage with her. It does have to be his decision for his life, but it also has to be her decision for her life and maybe Dear Gene needs to see that she is capable of moving on and getting what she wants too. He is not the only one who is important in a relationship it is not suppose to be one sided, he needs to learn that she counts too and he needs to commit to this woman that he supposedly loves. He is not the only one who is important in a relationship it is not suppose to be one sided and he needs to learn that he needs to be faithful to her it’s just the way it works even for a god.

I really liked this family! I like how real they are, while living a fantasy life..Shannon has been bucking back and its about time. The kids are all right too. I guess Gene could go back with his mama?
