RTVM Battle: The Voice’s Beverly McClellan vs. James Durbin of American Idol
June 28, 2011 09:00 AM by Shayla Perry
It’s time for another RTVM Battle where YOU decide which show’s bringing the better talent this season — NBC’s The Voice or Fox’s American Idol. Today, it’s rockers Beverly McClellan and James Durbin. Watch the videos, form your opinion, and vote for the one you think is the best in the Comments section. Let’s get ready to rumble!
Her performance made Adam Levine s**t his pants, and Blake Shelton sure did “likey.” What do you think of “Killer B’s” rendition of Melissa Etheridge’s “I’m the Only One”?
Beverly McClellan “I’m the Only One”
James Durbin “Love Potion No. 9″
Will Beverly McClellan finally put a “W” in the Win column for The Voice, or will James Durbin continue Idol‘s streak?
You decide!
Official voting will come to an end at 11:30pm ET on Tuesday, June 21st, with the winner being announced in our Voice recap. But feel free to continue commenting past the deadline to let everyone know where you stand.
Vote in all of our RTVM Battles!

James without a doubt. I remember when “Love Potion Number 9″ came out and I always thought it was a silly song. Not so anymore after watching James make that song his own.
June 28th, 2011 at 5:55 pm
James Durbin is the best…. He should have been in the final no questions about that.

I love both of them and find them to be powerful performers. Yes, James should have been on the match up for the Idol finale and probably won. Lauren was great, but James had the chops and stage presence. As for Voice’s Beverly, well she’s my favorite. We so often see powerful guys sing, but she just has such a great personna, sexy, dominate on stage, humble and just plain amazing. Go Beverly!

James Durbin. Simply the best. No question.

James \o/!
That kid has a lot of charisma.
June 29th, 2011 at 11:48 am
Definitely Beverly McClellan! She has her own style and her voice is very distinquishable. James Durbin brings nothing new to heavy metal. Sure he brought some to AI, but that was it. He doesn’t stand out among the crowd.

June 30th, 2011 at 6:27 am
James Durbin.. He will be the next super star…
June 30th, 2011 at 7:35 am
James is definitely the better singer and performer. He has a voice that would be hard to top and such topnotch stage presence. You get totally submerged in his performances when you watch and listen to him. He has “heart” and “feeling” in his voice. Hope and pray he has a phenominal career. He deserves it after getting booted from Idol.

JAMES JAMES jAMES-NO CONTEST
July 3rd, 2011 at 3:39 pm
James Durbin is Rockstar heaven
July 4th, 2011 at 1:34 am
I think most people are impressed by James Durbin, because they are unaware of the “original” heavy metal version of Love Potion nr. 9 by the Tygers of Pan Tang.
Then James becomes far less surprising and just a run of the mill imitator.
So it is Beverly, due to her good performance, but in particular her joy in rocking the show.

James Durbin from Cougar !!!
July 5th, 2011 at 5:11 am
You’ve got to be kidding me. You can’t even compare them. James Durbin has an incredible voice with an effortless insane range, this person is squeezing the upper range and is barely heard in the lower range. Who had the brilliant idea to even put them next to each other like that? James is a well rounded brilliant artist where every move, every detail of his appearance makes sense. He should have won really this year, but that’s another conversation.

James – No contest!!!!
July 16th, 2011 at 9:32 pm
JAMES DURBIN……NO CONTEST…..
