Gene Simmons Family Jewels Heart Wrenching Drama at Graveside

June 29, 2011 11:00 AM by Halle Fontana

Gene Simmons the flamboyant and extravagant front man of the rock band ‘Kiss’ shows another side when he weeps at the grave side of his estranged father in the June 28th Episode of A&E’s Reality Series ‘Genes Family Jewels‘. The usually stoic Gene visits the grave with his family in his birth country of Israel to take care of ‘Unfinished business’, his first visit in over a decade.  Some surprises where in store for the front man including a family reunion with his Sister, Brother and lots of cousins.

In the show, the family including long term love Shannon Tweed who is back in the house after last weeks emotional departure gather around his fathers graveside and an emotional letter is read. After which he is left along to weep and pay his respects “I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry, I’m so f*cking stupid. I’m so stupid. I didn’t run away from my kids, I didn’t run away from the kids, I’m a good father”

Genes father died in 2002 but it is obvious that Gene struggles to make peace with his passing. “I’ve been arrogant about a lot of things, especially my father”. “I wanted to prove to myself and to everyone else and to my father that I didn’t need him. So once I proved it and became successful, I wanted to stand stubbornly on my pride… Unfortunately I never saw my father again until I stood over his grave and that was not easy”

I was crying through most of this episode, but the scene in the cemetary was gut wrenching. My heart goes out to Gene, but at least he realized what he did wrong when it came to his father. It seems that his mother was able to forgive, and now, finally so has Gene. I love their family and hope Gene and Shannon work out their problems. They and their children are wonderful and I wish them the very best.

I want to thank the Simmons-Tweed Family for the amazing show that I saw last night about your visit to Amsterdam and the Anne Frank House. Through the beautiful photography and feelings that the participants freely shared with the viewing audience, I felt as if I were actually there. Although I may never have the opportunity to visit that amazing place, I am grateful for your respectful portrayal of this important subject. Please continue this series and my best to your amazing family. The love and honesty you have for and with each other is so heartwarming.

I love this family and pray for them. I also cried thru’ the whole show as well when Gene and family went to Israel. I want to sy to Gene, you are more of a man now in many eyes for letting us see your emotions come out as well as on the series where Shannon left and you showed how much you love her and willing 2 do whatever it took. More famous ppl need to be real and maybe then more of their marriages and relationships would work out.
