Katherine McPhee stopped by The Voice Tuesday night to show the final four contestants some love and to promote her new NBC show Smash. We have our doubts that Smash will be Glee on steroids, but we’ll give it a try. Read on to find out what song Katherine McPhee’s character has in common with one of the judges from The Voice.
NBC knew what they were doing when they booked Katherine McPhee to stop by The Voice Tuesday night to promote and preview the 2012 debut of their new musical drama Smash. Hello, the number of viewers tuning into The Voice is astronomical, so why not preview Smash on the big finale?
Katherine McPhee is playing Karen, a midwest girl taking her shot at the big stage of Broadway. She’ll be joined by the amazing Anjelica Huston and Debra Messing and she didn’t waste any time mentioning Steven Spielberg is their iconic producer.
McPhee does share something in common with one of The Voice’s coaches — and a contestant for that matter. Finalist Beverly McClellan took on the big task of performing celebrity coach Christina Aguilera’s anthem Beautiful on the finale, which Katherine McPhee’s character does in Smash.
We joke that Smash can’t top Glee, but after seeing the preview Katharine Mcphee brought with her, it’s quite possible they will be two very different shows. Okay, scratch that — they will be two very different shows.
Check out Katherine McPhree previewing and promoting Smash on The Voice and don’t stop the video until it’s complete. The preview pops up as Carson Daly throws the show to commercial.
