Last night on Fox‘s Masterchef we watched as Jennie Kelley was eliminated after the contestants had to create a dish without a recipe. Today, we had the chance to chat with Jennie, who told us her elimination was ironically the best part of the competition for her! What exactly is she talking about? Read on for more!
Masterchef’s Jennie Kelley just could not grasp re-creating one of last season’s winner, Whitney Miller’s dishes without a recipe. But it’s okay as this upbeat gal spoke with us exclusively today about how today is the best day for her as she gushed about her experience on the show. Here is what Jennie wanted to share with everyone:
RTVM: Can you tell us your thoughts on last night’s elimination and where you think you went wrong?
Jennie Kelley: It was a tough one as I don’t normally eat that kind of Southern food…I know that is weird because I live in the South, but I don’t eat that. I was completely out of my comfort zone and it was just not my day.
RTVM: What was the best part of the competition for you?
Jennie Kelley: I know this is going to sound odd, but it is actually today. The show is over for me now and my culinary journey is just beginning. I have been even more inspired by the show and now it’s about my future, so the best part is now for me.
RTVM: What does the future hold for you?
Jennie Kelley: Well, I am into food styling and I have an underground supper club. I am hoping that I can get the entire top 18 to come and cook for the supper club. I have been keeping in close contact with Alvin and Ben Starr. I have a food blog that you all can check out: The Perfect Last Bite – leave me comments, I love them and will try to respond. My goal is that everyone who reads the blog can benefit from it. I also have some other projects in the works, but I can’t discuss those yet. I also love music and like Graham Elliot, I would love to intertwine them both – music and cooking.
RTVM: What did you think of the judges this season?
Jennie Kelley: They are all great guys and I love each of them in their own way. I love Graham Elliot’s integrity and the way he respects food. As for Joe Bastianich, some may call him the “Simon Cowell” of Masterchef but he really wants us all to succeed, thus why he is so hard on us. And Gordon Ramsay is intense but that is because he is so passionate about what he does and he wants to make sure you give it your all.
RTVM: Did you ever think going into the audition that you would be given an apron?
Jennie Kelley: I went into the audition not knowing what to expect and my audition was not shown on television, only online. I remember Gordon Ramsay saying no to going back to my job, and all I could hear was the no. When I finally grasped it, I was shocked and giddy like a school girl. The top 18 are so great and we are all so tight now.
RTVM: Can you give us any spoilers on what is to come on Masterchef?
Jennie Kelley: Drama! I am glad I will not be there for all the drama that is to come, but that is all I can day. I can tell you for sure that I did not win [chuckles].
Best of luck to Jennie Kelley! Did the judges get it right? Comment and share your thoughts with us!
