So You Think You Can Dance Live Results Recap: Judges Shocked By America’s Choices

July 07, 2011 06:03 PM by Candace Young

Tonight is the last dance for one guy and one girl on So You Think You Can Dance The top 14 open the show with a Bollywood style performance in colorful Indian costumes.  Cat Deeley explains that the judging panel will have to cut the two going home from the bottom three couples.  She introduces Travis Wall, Mary Murphy, and Nigel Lythgoe.  Performing tonight will be Florence and the Machine. Keep reading to find out who will be in the bottom three and who will be eliminated…

Melanie and Marko, aka, ‘The Domination Man’ have their jazz performance reviewed from last night, followed by Caitlynn and Mitchell, whose lyrical routine blew everyone away.  Cat tells them after last night’s votes, Melanie and Marko are safe. Caitlynn and Mitchell are also safe!

Cat Deeley reminds everyone that National Dance Day is July 30!

Three more couples join Cat onstage. She reviews Ashley and Chris‘s salsa, which didn’t get raves, and they learn they are in the bottom three.  Next, Cat turns to Clarice and Jess, who did a tremendous contemporary routine last night, and Jordan and Tadd, who performed a story of seduction and won praise from the judges.

Cat tells them that the next two dancers in danger are Jordan and Tadd. Clarice and Jess are safe.  Mary Murphy is shocked.

Next to join Cat on the stage are Ryan and Ricky, whose zombie-esque routine went over big with the judges, and Sasha and Alexander, who did a hip hop routine which was not well-received.

Cat announces that the final couple in jeopardy is…Ryan and Ricky.  Travis is confused and shocked, and thinks America got it wrong.

Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet perform live on stage.

The solo dances begin. Ashley is first. She dances to Lovely by John West featuring Pusha T.  Chris is the first guy soloist.  He performs to a song by Basement Jaxx. Jordan is  next and dances to Commander by Kelly Rowland.  Tadd follows with a routine to 1-2-3 by Gloria Estefan. Ryan performs to Adagio For Strings by Brno Philharmonic Orchestra. Last up is Ricky, who dances to When You Say My Name by Mario Spinetti.

The judges head backstage to make their decision. Cat introduces Florence and the Machine!

Cat asks the judges when they return which girl will be leaving tonight. Nigel says the dancers need to show them different sides now and up their game if they stay. Jordan is asked to step forward – Nigel says she has sensational legs but she needs to give the judges more if she stays. Ryan is told that they love her, and Nigel tells Ashley that they haven’t seen her peak – she is the one who has to go home.   Ashley Rich has been eliminated.

The guys join Cat on the stage. Nigel asks Ricky to step forward and tells him that he and his partner are not connecting with America though he’s the second best contemporary dancer they have. Alexander is told he has done well. Tadd is in good shape too, but Chris is told by Nigel that he’s not doing what the choreographers require of him, and he’s going home tonight. Chris Koehl has been eliminated.
