In this week’s episode of The Glee Project on Oxygen, the contenders test their dance skills. With only nine remaining contestants–the skates are high. Keep reading to find out who stayed and who went home!
It’s a chance of a lifetime for an up and coming artist to have exposure and a guest-starring role on FOX’s hit series, Glee. In this week’s episode, “Dance Ability” the nine hopefuls each bust a move on the dance floor. The remaining contestants are Alex Newell, Cameron Mitchell, Damian McGinty Jr., Hannah McIalwain, Lindsay Pearce, Marissa von Bleicken, Matheus Fernandes, McKynleigh Abraham and Samuel Larsen. The guest mentor is Harry Shum Jr. from Glee, who on the series plays the role of Mike Chang, a phenomenal dancer.
For the group assignment, the participants must sing Train’s “Hey, Soul Sister.” The contestants perform the song and rocker Samuel shines and is selected as the winner. Afterwards, Alex tells Samuel that he let Samuel win because he didn’t feel like winning all of the challenges.
Next, as a group, the participants must work together to pull off a music video, to MC Hammer’s classic rap, “U Can’t Touch This.” Since Samuel won the homework challenge, he gets the opportunity to do a free style rap. Meanwhile, Alex picks up the dance moves for the “U Can’t Touch This” music video from choreographer, Zach quickly so Zach has Alex teach the group the moves much to their dismay. Matheus struggles during the actual shooting of the music video because something is changed last minute from what he rehearsed. During the shoot the stress builds and Matheus snaps at Damian.
The group performs the number and truly pays homage to the 90′s. It’s now time for the bottom three to be selected. The judges chose McKynleigh, Matheus and Alex to do last chance performances. The first one up to perform is McKynleigh who must sing Carrie Underwood’s “Last Name.” The second is Matheus who performs an over-the-top rendition of Jay Sean’s “Down.” Finally, Alex sings “I Will Always Love You.”
As the judges deliberate they note that this is the toughest bottom-three competition so far. One by one the bottom three walk to see who is called back and who will go home. In the end, McKynleigh’s name is listed under the “Not Called Back” and it’s now time for her to go home.
