Hot on the heels of The Bachelorette Season Finale, comes After the Final Rose. Ashley Hebert will face the guy she rejected and show off the guy she’s engaged to with the help of host Chris Harrison. Keep reading for the highlights of the show…
Chris Harrison welcomes Ben to the set and they look back on his time with Ashley, ending with his rejected proposal. The audience lets out a collective, “Ahh.” Ben tells Chris that was tough to watch. Chris says it’s one of the most genuine reactions he’s seen on the show. Ben says he was in love with her and it was tough to be that vulnerable. He credits Ashley with helping him open up again after his father’s death. Chris asks if he’s ready to see Ashley – he is.
Ashley comes out and Ben jokes, “Nice ring.” He asks her when she made the decision to choose JP. Ashley tells him at one point she thought it would be him she was leaving with, but ultimately she decided to follow her heart. Ben tells her he appreciates her helping him to open up again. Ashley tell him she cares about him and hopes they can be friends. Ben says he thinks they can be. Ben confirms that he is ready to move on and find love – he wants to feel that again.
Once Ben’s gone, Ashley tells Chris it was good to see Ben again and he was a gentleman. They discuss his anger after she turned down his proposal. She admits it took her by surprise, and describes how she had to separate it from what was about to happen with JP so she could remember the time with happiness. Chris notes that JP was a little more jealous than the others. Ashley credits it to him being emotionally invested. She talks about how they went on Skype during the time the episodes were airing. Chris says JP was always there for her along the way, even through the stuff with Bentley. Ashley grins that she’s his biggest fan – and he’s a great kisser too! Chris says he is so happy for them.
It’s time for JP and Ashley to be reunited. JP comes out and gathers Ashley into one of those great kisses. He tells Chris they’ve been dying for this moment. Chris asks how tough it’s been to be apart. JP admits it’s been awful to keep it a secret – he’s so in love with her! Chris asks JP how tough it’s been not to be able to protect Ashley from the tabloid reports and people’s negativity. JP says it was incredibly tough, but he supported her as best he could. Chris tells them they can forget about it all starting now.
Next, they watch JP proposing to Ashley – they haven’t seen it yet. They do more kissing after they see it. Chris then asks about JP and Chrystie’s run-in. JP says to this day he doesn’t get it. Chris says Ashley’s family is there and he asks Chrystie to join them.
Chrystie tries to explain where she was coming from at the time, but says after watching the season it was very clear to her that JP is the one – she is so ashamed of having judged unfairly. JP and Chrystie hug it out.
Ashley tells Chris that she is finishing school within a month and then moving to New York to get a place with JP. After that, they’ll start to think about wedding plans. Chris warns about the media attention, but Ashley thinks they’ve been through the hardest part. Chris says he doesn’t want them to leave empty-handed. JP quips, “I’m not.” Chris laughs and tells them they’re giving them a trip back to Fiji.
