Most girls would be happy with a gumball machine ring if it meant they’d walk down the aisle, but The Bachelorette’s Ashley Hebert got to live out every girls fantasy of having some massive bling bling when all was said and done.
So, what went into the perfect ring that JP Rosenbaum put on Ashley’s finger? First, he started with famed jeweler Neil Lane to design the perfect ring.
“Ashley had cut-outs from magazines and pictures she’d downloaded from the Internet of rings she’d dreamed about,” Neil Lane told People magazine. In fact, Lane got some ideas from Ashley Hebert and then hand-made six different ones for Ben Flajnik and J.P Rosenbaum to choose from.
“I understood what her fantasy princess ring was all about. It had to be delicate but have a presence and she wanted a central stone with diamonds on the band — a ring with a romantic feel that sparkled,” he continued.
JP’s winning ring ended up a whopping 3.5-carat, central cushion-cut piece of ice. It was detailed with 162 tiny diamonds, all set to a platinum band. Neil Lane said, “It has a vintage, 19th-century romantic feel, with soft edges, but with a contemporary look.” If you want one that looks just like that you’ll have to cough up $60,000.
We have to play devils advocate here — what do you think Ben Flajnik’s ring would have looked like had he got the final rose and everyone was digging for details of his sparkly choice?
Either way, congratulations Ashley Hebert and JP Rosenbaum! Okay, we’re going to go window shopping and dream of getting a ring like Ashley’s.
