As fans prepare for the premiere of FOX‘s X Factor, Cheryl Cole, who was fired from the series, is apparently still not speaking to Simon Cowell over the fiasco. In a recent interview, Simon Cowell opened up about the drama! Read on for more…
If you missed any of the drama behind the scenes of The X Factor, Cheryl Cole was supposed to be joining the judging panel, but was later fired – and we never really got a clear cut answer as to why. Various rumors circulated about Paula Abdul having something to do with it, as well as Cheryl Cole’s accent being too difficult for contestants to understand. Whatever the reason, Simon Cowell revealed to Life & Style Magazine that the pair is still not speaking. Simon Cowell does feel bad though, as he recently told the magazine: “I am sorry the way it worked out as we were incredibly close. Trying to get her to understand what I did, it was never meant to be negative. It was a decision I thought was the right one, and I think she is more comfortable in England than I saw her here.”
Simon Cowell is still second guessing his decision regarding Cheryl Cole as he also said: “Maybe I didn’t give her enough time, and you have to be in the moment. I offered her the show, and initially she accepted it. Then it went public that she didn’t and had the chance to still come back, but for whatever reason I couldn’t get her [on the phone]. Unless I spoke to her, there was no way I would have her back.”
It’s a shame the way it all went down as the pair were very good friends before this fiasco happened. Cheryl Cole worked well alongside Simon Cowell on the UK version of the show for years, and many of us were anticipating seeing her on the US version. Simon Cowell is still hopeful that he can work things out with Cheryl Cole as he revealed: “She is still grumpy with me. I can look myself in the mirror and say I wasn’t being mean. I offered her a lot of money to go back as a hero, and it didn’t work out. I think when you have the history we have, you’ll eventually work it out.”
