On tonight’s episode of The Glee Project, “Generosity” is the theme this week as the final four duke it out all looking to grab a place in the finale. Alex Newell, Damian McGinty Jr., Lindsay Pearce, and Samuel Larsen are vying for the grand prize–a guest starring role on FOX’s hit TV show Glee. Keep reading to find out who’s in the finale!
On tonight’s episode, Kevin McHale who portrays Artie on Glee is the guest mentor. For their homework assignment, the four contestants have to perform the song, “Lean On Me” for casting director Robert Ulrich and Kevin. After the performance, Kevin picks Lindsay as the challenge winner. Kevin announces that for this week, the music video the contenders will be performing is My Chemical Romance’s “Sing.” The participants also find out they have to play instruments for the video and will be working with special guests.
Alex, Damian, Lindsay and Samuel are brought into a room and vocal coach Nikki Anders introduces them to their singing partners for the week. Four students are paired with the final four contenders. All of the students play instruments and sing. Since the theme this week is generosity, the mentors are watching to see the contestants’ generosity as they work with their young partners. It’s now time to shoot the music video. Mentors Nikki, Robert and Zach Woodlee watch on the set as the participants take direction and help the students.
When the music video is completed Robert tells the final four that there is a new twist. Just when the mentors were about to announce who would be in the bottom three–Robert received a phone call from Ryan Murphy that he wants Ian Brennan, the co-creator and writer of Glee to watch all four of the contestants perform in the Last-Chance Performance round. Alex, Damian, Lindsay, and Samuel will all be performing for Ryan and Ian.
The songs are chosen for the contenders: Lindsay will sing “Defying Gravity;” Alex has the gospel standard, “His Eye Is On the Sparrow;” Damian will sing Sammy Davis Jr.’s swing tune, “I Gotta Be Me;” and Samuel has the old classic, “My Funny Valentine.”
The contestants begin to work on their songs and Nikki goes in to check on each of them. Alex is struggeling with his emotions because his song was played at his Dad’s funeral, meanwhile Samuel has never heard his song before and isn’t exactly sure how to perform it. When Nikki goes in to talk to Lindsay, she says she wants to show the “real her” when she performs her song.
The final four each perform for Ian and Ryan. After deliberating, the two decide what they want to. The list is posted and the four go one by one to see who will be called back and who will go home. In a shocking surprise all four of the contestants are called back for the finale next week!
