Jersey Shore: Abercrombie & Fitch Offers The Situation Money To Not Wear Their Clothes

August 17, 2011 08:34 AM by Kristin Watson

There’s a situation brewing. Jersey Shore’s Mike The Situation” Sorrentino is actually a pretty good guy but Abercrombie & Fitch has decided it does not want him to dress in their garb — and they’ll pay him not to. Read on for all the details…

Let’s face it, Abercrombie & Fitch is known for some risky catalogs, so why is it so against Jersey Shore’s The Situation wearing their clothes?  Better yet, why are they willing to shell out a generous amount of money to make sure he stops wearing them?

“We are deeply concerned that Mr. Sorrentino’s association with our brand could cause significant damage to our image,” Abercrombie & Fitch said in a statement.

So, what they are saying is half naked models in a catalog is a better representation than MTV’s The Situation? We’re not convinced that’s true, but we’ll let them continue their reasoning.

The retailer went on, “We understand that the show is for entertainment purposes, but believe this association is contrary to the aspirational nature of our brand, and may be distressing to many of our fans.”

Here’s what they had to say about the monetary end of the situation:

“We have therefore offered a substantial payment to Michael ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino and the producers of MTV’s The Jersey Shore to have the character wear an alternate brand.  We have also extended this offer to other members of the cast, and are urgently waiting a response.”

We think The Situation is the perfect person to wear their clothing. He likes to take his shirt off, they like to put models in their catalogs that are barely wearing clothes — what’s the problem here?

The Situation told New York magazine last year, ”Abercrombie & Fitch, their most popular shirt, they told me, is ‘Fitchuation.’ I mean, where did they get that from? Obviously from myself.”

Do you think Abercrombie & Fitch has any reasons to be concerned over The Situation’s representation of their brand?
