Heartthrob Stefano Langone charmed the audience–and judge Jennifer Lopez on season 10 of FOX’s hit reality TV competition American Idol. Now, the 22 year old is on the road singing to his fans for the 2011 American Idols LIVE! Tour. I caught up with Stefano at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ to talk about his music, what it was really like working with J-Lo and his career.
How’s the tour going?
The tour’s going great this is our 28 stop and it’s just been a whirlwind and it’s really cool to see the people who have supported you this whole time, it’s really cool too come in and leave with more fans. That’s kind of my goal right now; I didn’t do as well as I wanted to on the show but this gives me an opportunity to come in and really establish myself as a high class performer and vocalist and that’s what I’m doing each and every night and it feels good and it feels good leaving here with more fans.
How has being on American Idol changed your life?
Well, it’s definitely put what I do in the limelight and that’s singing but really for what I want to do and what I want to be famous for quote unquote I really haven’t done anything yet so it’s been a great platform but at the same time I need to realize I have a long way to go to get to the place where I wanted to be before I tried out for American Idol and that’s have a foot in the door in the music industry and something big and so that’s what I’m working for.
Looking ahead, where do you see yourself in five years?
I see myself on hopefully a second or third album, a well-known writer and known for my voice in the industry.
In addition to the tour, are you currently working on any projects?
Oh yeah, of-course always writing and always making new music and right now looks like we are in the process of finding a deal out and figuring out that whole thing and see what happens–what comes out if that.
What genre do you see yourself performing?
It’s a weird thing, all I can say is its poppy but is not the real pop right now–it has a mixture of things like funk and R&B and blues. I want to do real music, I want real instruments and I want real musicians to be a part of it and so that’s really what I’m looking for. If it’s on the pop radio then it’s on the pop radio if it’s not, I’m not worried about it that’s really not my goal and I don’t really want to be known for being a pop star.
American Idol judge, Jennifer Lopez was a big fan of yours this season, how did that make you feel?
It feels great, she helped a lot as well as Mark during the whole process and they’re both great people.
