Last week on Bachelor Pad 2, Jake Pavelka managed to hang in there another week due to Chris Harrison’s announcement that two girls would be going home. Blake played Melissa while flirting with Holly, Gia Allemand left in tears, and Ames Brown followed Jackie Gordon home! It’s been crazy so far, so keep reading for all of the highlights from episode three…
The episode kicks off with Blake trying to talk to a teary-eyed Melissa in the kitchen. She wants him to man up and admit he played her for a fool. Blake feigns innocence – he never meant to play anyone or to hook up with Holly. Melissa walks out, leaving Blake sweating that all the girls will have her back and turn on him.
Melissa talks to Holly and Vienna about Blake. Holly shrugs that she flirts with all the boys, but Vienna calls him a negative energy in the house and realizes he’s worried about being eliminated.
Elsewhere, Kasey is bellyaching about the tension Jake causes between he and Vienna, and how he needs to go. Chris Harrison calls them together. He says today’s competition is out at the pool. They head out and see a synchronized swim team performing. Chris says they’ll all be learning and performing a synchronized swim routine and they’ll be judged on it. The ladies will perform together, as will the guys. One guy and one girl will receive a rose and be safe at the end.
In practice, Jake feels he knows choreography from Dancing With the Stars, but says Mike Stagliano is the guy to beat. Over at the girls’ practice, Holly deems their team a disaster and Erica Rose mutters that the closest she’s ever got to doing synchronized swimming is laying out by the pool.
Once they’ve suited up – girls in flowered caps and bikinis, and guys stripped down to Speedos – the judges are revealed. It’s one of the synchronized swimmers, Karen, along with last season’s Bachelor Pad winners Natalie Getz and Dave Good.
The ladies go first, with Vienna proclaiming to the cameras that she is so much better than the other girls. As they perform, words such as ‘rough’ and ‘godawful’ are bandied about among the guys and judges.
The guys are up next. They do much better, oddly, than the girls did. Michelle thinks Mike is the standout, but Erica opines that Jake could win it strictly based on the size of his package!
Natalie tells Jake he did a great job, Dave says Kirk stood out, but Karen announces that Mike was the best and he wins the rose. For the ladies, Dave says Vienna stood out, Natalie remarks that Holly was the one she noticed, but Karen awards the rose to Michelle Money. Mike and Michelle each get to take three people on dates.
Jake sets right to work on convincing others to keep him on and vote Kasey off. Erica latches on to him and proposes a partnership. In the kitchen, Vienna is being too nice to Jake which upsets Kasey. He takes Vienna aside and confronts her. She turns on the waterworks and reminds Kasey he’s supposed to be protecting her. Everyone who witnesses the exchange feels very uncomfortable. Kasey asks if she’d like another public break-up and storms off. Vienna follows and corners Kasey, who has been telling the cameras that Vienna’s a bigger fame whore than Jake. He tells her to get over the situation with Jake and says she doesn’t appreciate anything he’s done to protect her. Kasey tells her she’s acting crazy. Kasey tells the camera that he’s beginning to doubt the things she’s said about Jake are true.
The date card for Michelle arrives. She selects Graham, Kasey, and Blake to accompany her. Michelle drives them to a vineyard where they sit to drink wine at a table in a clearing. They talk about the goings on in the house. Michelle takes Blake aside to grill him about how he’s treating Melissa who is a good friend of hers. She advises him to make amends or he’s gone.
Back at the house, Michael’s date card comes. He selects Vienna, Ella, and Holly, who is at the point where she’s tempted to distance herself from him.
It’s evening on Michelle’s date and she takes Graham aside. Michelle confides to the camera that she has a huge crush on him, but feels he’s not that into her. When they’re alone, she coyly lets him know what she’s thinking, but he isn’t forthcoming about his last break-up and where he stands on moving on. They do share a kiss and he ends up with the rose.
On Mike’s date, he and the girls go horseback riding. Mike tells the cameras he’s looking forward to spending more time with Holly, but she tells the cameras she is drained and doesn’t want to talk to him about anything right now. Vienna is on Ella’s nerves big time, however she manages to set that aside to indulge in a gossip about Holly and Mike when they’re off on their own. Nearby, Mike tells Holly he misses her and gets all choked up again. She seems to lead him on a bit, saying she thinks of him as home in all the craziness, and wants things to be like they used to be. Holly gets the rose.
A huge bus trundles up to Holly and Michael who are on a picnic table – it’s Bret Michael’s tour bus! They join him on the bus and he asks about their situation. He offers to sing Every Rose Has Its Thorn. Holly is glad to share the experience with Michael.
Back at the house, Blake offers Melissa some french toast and tries to make nice. They talk and things thaw somewhat. Kasey carries on about the emotional struggle of the game, while Jake tries to convince some of the others to vote Kasey out to better their own chances. Blake, who is also in trouble, thinks it’s a good strategy. Erica catches up to Jake again and she manages to get him to kiss her – she dubs them a new power couple.
That evening, Kasey and Vienna discuss how difficult it’s been. He says it hurts his heart, and he has a gift for her. He pulls out a ring box and she says he’s scaring her. Vienna blurts that she doesn’t want it to be an engagement ring. Taken aback, Kasey tells her it’s a promise ring. Kasey tells the cameras that she treats him like crap. He puts the ring on her finger and they kiss. Then the unthinkable happens – Kasey sings to her, just like he did to Ali Fedotowsky in one of the most awkward moments in The Bachelorette history!
Meanwhile, Jake talks to Melissa by the hot tub and a jealous Erica eavesdrops. Vienna says Melissa is digging her own grave by talking to Jake so long. The next day, Erica listens as Melissa talks to Mike – this is followed by a confrontation. Melissa has meltdown #4897 as Erica confronts her in front of Michelle and Kasey. Michelle coaches Melissa to let it go because it’s driving everyone crazy. The tide turning against Melissa is a great bit of news for Blake.
At the cocktail party, Blake tells Melissa he doesn’t want a romantic involvement. Naturally, she breaks down. Jake, seeing that she’ll follow whoever offers her comfort, hugs her and talks her down.
Chris Harrison comes into the room and says this week the ladies are all safe. One man will be leaving Bachelor Pad tonight. Everyone must vote for the one man they’d like to see leave. It’s obviously between Kasey and Jake. There are 13 people in the house so seven is a majority.
Erica, who is on Team Jake, decides to manipulate Melissa into voting against Kasey. It seems to work. Kasey gathers his followers and thanks them for having his back – Melissa is among them. Kirk seems to emerge as the swing vote. Jake takes Kasey aside and wishes him luck – they shake hands. Kasey tells the camera after that he wants to punch him across the face.
Finally it’s time to find out if Jake’s lucky streak has run out. All of the ladies are safe, as well as Graham and Michael. Michelle joins Chris to hand out the roses.
Roses are offered to Kirk, William, and Blake before Chris mentions that it was the closest vote in Bachelor Pad history. The final rose goes to Kasey. Jake’s reached the end of the road.
