As the season 11 auditions for American Idol on Fox are well underway, Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler, and Randy Jackson took some time out for a press conference to chat about how the auditions are going. The judges are excited about the talent level for the new season. Read on to hear what they had to say!
American Idol judges, Steven Tyler, Randy Jackson, and Jennifer Lopez are busy with auditions, but that didn’t stop them from joining a press conference to share some thoughts on the auditions. They hinted that are seeking that standout female performer, someone who has a chance to break the current male winning streak (the last female winner we saw was Jordin Sparks back in season six). Jennifer Lopez is hopeful about this season with the girls, as she stated: “The strongest voices we’ve seen this year have been girls. We had a lot of strong girls last year, but they were voted off, one by one.”
What did Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler have to say? They didn’t directly comment on the female talent, but they were both excited about the talent level, once again. Randy Jackson said: “I feel like the bar is raised every year. We had an amazing abundance of talent last year, and I think we up it every season,” while Steven Tyler added: “It still breaks my heart to tell someone they can’t sing, because everybody’s got a voice. It’s not easy. I have my days and moments.”
Sounds very much like what we heard last season, but will the girls reign supreme this season? Judging by past seasons, it seems that girls are the ones doing most of the voting, so unless that changes, we will most likely see another male winner in season 11.
American Idol on Fox returns for season 11 in January, right after the NFC Championship game!
