Ever since the transgender was announced as part of the season 13 cast of Dancing With The Stars on ABC, Chaz Bono has been the subject of controversy all over the web. From folks angrily writing the network, to a recent news story in which talk show host Dr. Keith Ablow suggested children may develop Gender Identity Disorder from just watching Chaz Bono on Dancing With the Stars. But now, The American Psychiatric Association is saying that is not true and children will be fine watching Chaz take the dance floor.
The American Psychiatric Association claims that children who watch the show with Chaz Bono will not be running out for a sex change, although they did acknowledge Gender Identity Disorder as a psychiatric disorder. Jon Oldham, APA president, recently told TMZ: “There is no evidence that viewing a television game show with a transgender contestant would induce Gender Identity Disorder in young people.”
