In anticipation of Dirty Soap’s premiere, General Hospital’s Kelly Monaco stopped by KTLA Morning News in Los Angeles to promote what she refers to as a docu-soap, semi-reality show. Keep reading to find out what she had to say about revealing her personal life on camera and why she decided to join the show.
When interviewed by KTLA’s entertainment reporter Sam Rubin, Kelly stated, “The genre is in trouble. This is probably 99.9 percent of the reason why I chose to do Dirty Soap. Yeah. We’re in trouble and we need anything and everything we can to save Daytime and maybe get another generation of viewers coming in.”
In the sneak peek KTLA shows of Dirty Soap, Kelly tells the camera of her first and only break-up, “I’ve recently ended a toxic, 18-year relationship. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do in my life. I would be more inclined to take a bullet for somebody because I think I’d heal a lot quicker.”
Upon watching the clip for the first time, Kelly admits she feels vulnerable, but says, “If I can take my experience and sort of use it as a platform…I’m sure there’s a ton of people out there that can relate and who have ended up alone after a really long time.”
In the interview, she also talks Dancing with the Stars, declaring she likes this season because there’s no early favorite. However, after interviewing her for E!, Kelly has become partial to Ricki Lake, because she’s in it for the right reason, and also David Arquette, because he will embrace the acting part of it.
