Sunday September 25 brings a special two-hour premiere of the 9th season of Extreme Makeover Home Edition in which Michelle Obama gives Ty Pennington an interview and a tour of the White House! Keep reading for a sneak peek of how Michelle Obama helps out with the rebuilding of a shelter for homeless female veterans…
Joining Ty Pennington for this week’s very special season premiere will be Extreme Makeover Home Edition designers designers Paul DiMeo, Tracy Hutson, John Littlefield, and newcomer, Sabrina Soto.
Michelle Obama will be featured on the season premiere, and as part of her Joining Forces initiative helps a military family, the Marshalls, from Fayetteville, North Carolina, with the building of a new Jubilee House for homeless female veterans.
Barbara Marshall is a 15-year Navy veteran who is passionately committed to the cause of assisting her homeless fellow female veterans. When she learned many were living on the streets despite having served their country, Barbara established the Steps-N-Stages Jubilee House in Fayetteville using her own funds. The house offers shelter and support for the women as well as services such as life coaching and mentoring.
Extreme Makeover Home Edition sends Barbara and her family to Walt Disney World where they were the guests of honor at a military parade and are surprised with a video visit from Michelle Obama from the White House thanking Barbara for her efforts.
When the Marshalls return from their trip, the unveiling of the new Jubilee House takes place. Blue Ridge Log Cabins and many volunteers helped with the project.
