The cast is introduced and the drama begins on the season premiere of Dirty Soap. Keep reading to find out what happens in the off-screen life of a soap opera star.
As One Life to Live’s Farah Fath prepares to move from New York back to L.A., she worries about running into her former best friend and General Hospital star Kirsten Storms. She is also concerned her boyfriend and current co-star John-Paul Lavoisier, who is a New Yorker at heart, won’t be onboard. Later, as the couple talks about heading to L.A., he assures her he’s 80 percent excited to move.
At home, Brandon Beemer finds Nadia Bjorlin getting her last Days of our Lives script. He teases her because her character just moving to Chicago is a let down. He wants a more exciting exit for her. She reflects that most of her adult life has been spent on that show, but he knows bigger and better things are in store for her.
Once in L.A., Farah meets up with Nadia, who she co-starred with on Days of our Lives. The friends catch up on what outrageous things are happening with their characters as they shop. Farah then goes house hunting with John-Paul, who seems resistant. Farah loves one of the houses, but JP finds fault. Afterwards, Farah expresses exasperation over her boyfriend not committing to a life on the West Coast. He points out they don’t know when he will officially be moving out there, but she wants a house and she wants it now.
At the Gering household, Days of our Lives star Galen and his wife Jenna go over his script, which includes a shower scene with his onscreen love interest. Jenna is uncomfortable with it even though he’s been acting on soap operas for years. She doesn’t know if she will ever get used to watching her husband kiss other women. After Galen has left for work, Jenna cooks with her mother in the kitchen, as her son sees his dad on TV. He wonders what he’s doing kissing “Ben’s mom,” a.k.a. Galen’s co-star and Biggest Loser host Alison Sweeney.
Galen stops by Nadia’s dressing room on the Days of our Lives set during her last day to give her a present. After she is done taping her scenes, she receives flowers from Brandon, which makes her cry. She calls her boyfriend to thank him. He senses she’s sad and tries to bolster her spirits. Nadia says her goodbyes to the Days of our Lives cast and crew and tells the camera it’s like leaving home, but all good things must come to an end.
After John-Paul has returned to New York, Farah attends Nadia’s going away party for Days of our Lives. Jenna also attends with her husband, but feels left out because Galen is the life of the party. Galen gives a toast to Nadia, as do other of her co-stars, Farah and of course Brandon. Nadia is sad, but touched to see so many people who care.
Kirsten Storms finds co-star and friend Kelly Monaco in her General Hospital dressing room. They look through some of Kelly’s creepy fan mail, including a scrapbook, which includes a photo of Kelly’s ex-boyfriend. She gets upset looking at the photo because the the 18 year relationship was toxic and she wonders how people become so different over time. The friends discuss Kelly needing to clean out her house, which she hasn’t done since her boyfriend moved out.
At episode’s end, Farah and JP Skpe and she tells him she’s seen a couple of houses while he’s been away, but he’s not receptive. Meanwhile, Brandon encourages Nadia as she movies on from Daytime, while Kirsten helps Kelly purge her past.
