The Biggest Loser: Johnny Forger Jokes About His Time On The Show

September 28, 2011 01:19 PM by Lisa Princ

Last night on The Biggest Loser on NBC, we watched as Anna Kournikova‘s team lost the weigh in once again, and Johnny Forger was sent packing. In his post elimination interview earlier today, Johnny Forger joked about his time on the show and his future! Read on for more…

Johnny Forger showed us what a jokester he could be when he pretended to down all the donuts in the temptation challenge on last night’s episode of The Biggest Loser, and the fun did not end for Johnny at the ranch. In his post elimination interview, Johnny tells us how he is continuing his journey at home, but he has not lost his sense of humor. Check out the interview below!

Question: What was your strategy with all the grunting sounds last night in the temptation challenge?

Johnny Forger: [laughing] When I walked into the room and saw all the donuts, you could smell it, it was awful after what we’d been withdrawn from. My mission was to try to get Ramon, who is a big guy, to start eating them, but Ramon held the line. The second time I went back in, because we were short a player, and I got another shot at big John next to me. I said to John, “I’m going to get a second plate”, as he is a competitve guy, and he fell for it. Mission accomplished! That’s what all the grunting, groaning and moaning was about.

Question: The blue team lost 2 members already. Do you think they have what it takes to win?

Johnny Forger: I am not sure they will all make it, but some could survive. Coach is a great guy, he is a leader on the team, a great athlete, and shows us what we can do for the shape we are in. Becky is a natural born athlete and powerhouse. So, I think those two will give the others a run for their money.

Question: What was your feeling about being eliminated?

Johnny Forger: When I got booted, it was a shock to me, as I expected a 5 lb loss. On the plane going home, I said to myself that there was no way I would come back only losing 5 lbs. Instead, I am going to go at it tooth and nail. It’s a lifestyle change and being on the ranch simplified the eating process and helped me understand what the exercise process is all about.

Question: What is the best thing you learned on the ranch?

Johnny Forger: That came from Dr. H. He said to me one day “Johnny, it is 75% calories and foods you ingest and 25% exercise.” He’s quite a guy, and he turned the whole thing around and I understood it. Sometimes I end up at 8, 9, or even 10 pm at the gym, and some mornings at 6 am, but I know that I have to do it. It makes me feel like a different person. I reccomend highly to America to try it – you just may like it. No, you will like it. [laughing]

Question: What was one “I can’t believe I did that” moment for you on the show?

Johnny Forger: Probably that stair climber, when I was up on top of that and Anna flipped the speed up. I stayed with it, mastered it and she taught me that I could really do something I never thought possible.

Question: What are your thoughts on Anna Kournikova as a trainer?

Johnny Forger: She is a world class athlete, although most people think she is not tough, or a real trainer. Anna explained her life from the age of 5 coming to the us and becoming a tennis player. She talked about the
intesity that she went through, and when she said “you need to do this,” I knew she knew what she was doing. She was hard and there was some days I wondering where the break was. I looked at the 3 hours in the gym, and in 3 hours, it didn’t matter what she did to us, I knew 10 or 15 minutes after it was over I was going to feel like a new man. She took us out one Sunday morning, and we thought were taking a walk in the pasture, then we ended up climbing a mountain.

Question: What do you think about Bonnie and Becky claiming you whined too much, and that you did not do the homework?

Johnny Forger: Bonnie was a non stop whiner, she cried as she had problems and pains. I think they may have had a camaraderie there, as they saw me coming on strong. I mean, I would go the hour long tread mill routine without taking a break. I think I was a threat to more so Becky than Bonnie. It was funny when they said I didn’t do the homework. I would do the 3-4 miles, although it would take me a while with my heel, but I was doing it. Funny thing is that day both of them stayed in bed until noon, so they never did the homework. They are both great ladies though.

Question: Are you training for the marathon now?

Johnny Forger: Yes I have been training since I’ve been home, you know I am 66 years old now. When I started, I thought “not a chance they’ll see me out there,” but now I am ready to head out and give it my all.

Question: What have you learned about yourself during your time on the show?

Johnny Forger: I guess that I could do things that I thought had gone by. I was settling in to accepting that because of my age, I couldn’t get out of the couch as easily. I learned there that sticking with, and going through the workouts, that age doesnt matter. Aches don’t matter, just address them and don’t let them rule you.

Question: How has your diet changed since being home?

Johnny Forger: I have eliminated a lot of things, like spareribs that I used to down and then come home and eat another meal. Instead, I’ve got alot of sliced turkey, vegetables, chicken, and fish in my diet. I used to think I need to have 2 lbs worth of food, but now I am happy with the 6-8 oz portion…and the yogurts – it’s good eating. On the ranch, coach and I had to make more food because when the women got done, it would be half of what we needed to eat, because vegetables are so low in calories. I have also gotten away from bread, bagels, and pastas which is great.

Question: What are you looking forward to now that you are lighter?

Johnny Forger: On planes, I always had to use an extender belt. When I got back, there was no need for that. I had one in my car and now it’s gone. There is a big piece of seat belt left to go around me. I also used to hate going up stairs, and now I love to go up the stairs.
