The Biggest Loser Recap: Inspiration From Past Contestants And Letters From Home

October 11, 2011 07:01 PM by Lisa Princ

The Biggest Loser on NBC is back tonight after Patrick Ferrari‘s elimination last week. This week, the contestants get some weight loss inspiration from past contestants, as well as letters from home. Read on for all the highlights!

The Biggest Loser kicked off tonight as the red team was still shaken up over the emotional exit of Patrick Ferrari last week, more so with Courtney, who felt as though she came too close to elimination last week. But the emotions quickly turned to excitement as Dolvett Quince took the team for a hike, and met up with season 10′s Adam Hurtado, who still looks amazing. Adam, who actually fell into the same age group as Dolvett’s team was there to help inspire Dolvett’s team through their workout, and by sharing his advice.

And the past contestants didn’t end there as Bob Harper surprised his team with a visit from last season’s runner-up, Hannah. Hannah still looks fabulous, and before she helped Bob with the workout, she taught the contestants how to make her delicious turkey stuffed peppers. The blue team headed to the beach with Anna Kournikova, and they were greeted by Marci Crozier from last season, who really inspired the older team. Becky, Mike and Bonnie were so in awe of Marci, who would have been on their team (had she been on the show this season), that they really put in an extra effort.

After their inspirational visits from the past contestants, the current contestants would be battling out their challenge for letters from home. For this challenge, the teams had to pass the box of letters around their team, while walking through wind, snow and up a steep hill. The red team had an early lead on the others, but the black team quickly caught up and took over the lead. As the two teams fought it out, the blue team fell further and further behind, but Bonnie, who seemed to make great progress this week, did not let it get her down and they kept going. The black team ended up winning, but then Alison announced that all the teams would get their letters from home, since they all finished the challenge. The black team did get an extra advantage as they were also awarded a video chat with their families.

Bob Harper decided to do something different this week for his last chance workout, and take his contestants in the pool. This was a huge step for Joe, who had a fear of drowning, but would it be enough to keep the team together for one more week? We watched other contestants make great strides this week as well, such as Bonnie, who was really using her leg and pushing herself much harder. Dolvett dealt with Courtney’s issues this week, who was struggling emotionally, but he managed to help her overcome them with some basketball and a heart to heart chat. After their last chance workout, here is how the teams fared this week at the weigh in:

Anna’s Blue Team:

from 240 lbs to 233 lbs (-7)

from 273 lbs to 268 lbs (-5)

from 214 lbs to 212 lbs (-2)
*total team loss of 14 lbs and 1.93%

Bob’s Black Team
from 307 lbs to 301 lbs (-6)

from 389 lbs to 381 lbs (-8)

from 245 lbs to 241 lbs (-4)

from 375 lbs to 366 lbs (-9)

from 289 lbs to 282 lbs (-7)
*total team loss of 34 lbs or 2.12%

Dolvett’s Red Team
from 390 lbs to 382 lbs (-8)

from 322 lbs to 311 lbs (-11)

from 221 lbs to 219 lbs (-2)

from 240 lbs to 237 lbs (-3)
*total team loss of 24 lbs or 2.05%

That meant that once again, Anna’s blue team was up for elimination, while Bob’s black team beat both teams for total weight loss. Bonnie was the team member on the blue team who had the highest percentage of weight loss and could not be eliminated. This also meant that Bonnie’s vote was the only vote that counted since Becky and Mike could not vote for themselves. After hearing an emotional plea from both her teammates, Bonnie chose to send Mike home, based on her feeling that he could continue to lose at home, whereas Becky needed the ranch more.

Mike was baffled by Bonnie’s decision as he had been leading the blue team this entire time. Something tells us that this is the end of Anna and the blue team. Mike is doing wonderfully at home, and to date, Mike has lost 70 lbs, bringing him under 240 lbs. Best of luck to Mike, and be sure to check back tomorrow for our interview with coach Mike!
