Former Top Chef: Just Desserts contestant Morgan Wilson was indicted for possession of child pornography. He is scheduled to appear before a judge on October 27. Keep reading for more details.
According to the Pegasus News in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas area, Morgan was arrested in December 2010 (barely a month after the Bravo reality show finale aired) after undercover investigators received incriminating file transfers from Morgan’s computer via Limewire in September of that year. Upon investigation, Morgan’s computer was identified by its IP address.
Morgan’s residence in West Plano, Texas was searched on September 27, 2010 whereupon he was shown three incriminating images investigators downloaded during a remote session. Per a police affidavit, Wilson admitted he had viewed the images and signed them to indicate an agreement with the police. Wilson’s laptop was confiscated and reviewed by FBI forensic examiners.
Wilson was released on December 16, 2010 on a $10,000 bond with the stipulation he not access any computer without monitoring software. On October 6, 2011, he was indicted on three second-degree felony charges of possession with intent to promote child pornography. If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison.
Morgan made it to the finals of the first season of Top Chef: Just Desserts, but lost to Yigit Pura. Throughout the season, he clashed with his fellow cheftestants and often talked about his young son.
Wilson has worked as executive pastry chef at the Ritz-Carlton in Dallas since 2007. Per the news outlet, his name has recently been removed from the hotel’s website.
