Lionel Richie fans watched earlier this year as the singer starred on Who Do You Think You Are?, in effort to learn more about his family history. Now, Lionel Richie has revealed that he is going back to his Country roots with his new album, and he will even be giving us a sneak peek at the upcoming Country Music Awards. More after the jump…
Lionel Richie has Country roots? He sure does! The Grammy Award winning artist who starred on Who Do You Think You Are? this past season is heading back to those roots on his new album. The singer recently revealed: “I was born and raised in Tuskegee, Alabama. I am a country boy and proud of it. To do this project just felt natural,” of his new album which will be a Country duet album.
The ex-Commodore front man said that he plans to debut a few songs at November 9th’s 45th Annual CMA Awards, airing live on ABC, with Little Big Town, Darius Rucker, and Rascal Flatts. One of those tunes will include a country version of his super hit song Dancing on the Ceiling with Rascal Flatts. The album is set to debut in March 2012, and it will include 13 duets with such stars as Tim McGraw, Blake Shelton, Shania Twain, Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson and Jimmy Buffett. Some of the duets you will find on the album will be My Love with Kenny Chesney, Easy with Willie Nelson and Hello with Jennifer Nettles.
