Steven Tyler, of American Idol on FOX took a nasty fall in the shower this week, which was said to be caused by a bout of food poisoning, but there was still some uncertainty that Steven did not really “fall of the wagon.” In an interview early this morning, the Aerosmith front man said that substance abuse did not cause his fall, but that it was indeed from food poisoning. American Idol’s Steven Tyler was rushed to the hospital earlier this week where he was treated for a few cuts on his face and two broken teeth, after the star took a fall in the shower. Immediately after the news broke, people began to speculate whether or not the cause of the fall was food poisoning (as it was being reported), or if Steven Tyler actually fell off the wagon and had been abusing substances again. Steven Tyler set the record straight this morning as he personally spoke to Matt Lauer of The Today Show, where he said: “People thinking that is natural and normal. We flew last night from Paraguay after that incident and we’re in Argentina for two hours. And anyone who knows anyone who uses substances wouldn’t be up at this hour having a talk with Matt Lauer and the rest of America. It’s nothing I don’t understand. It makes me a little upset. But people think that.”
When Matt Lauer asked Steven Tyler is substance abuse was the issue, Steven replied: “No, it’s not the issue,” adding that he did suffer from food poisoning, which was the culprit for the incident. Steven Tyler is in good spirits after the incident, and he did manage to take the stage in Paraguay, as he added: “I went out on stage last night and I wore my sunglasses for the first song. I took them off and the crowd roared. It’s all about playing to the people. We rocked out. Not only did I break my face, but we broke a house record, so life is beautiful, Matt.”
We’re so glad to hear that Steven Tyler is feeling better! The new season of American Idol is set to premiere in January 2012, are you as excited as we are?
