Cher Speaks Out About Disrespectful Comments To Chaz Bono

October 28, 2011 09:15 AM by Lisa Princ

Chaz Bono faced elimination on Dancing With The Stars  on ABC after the Broadway performances this week. Chaz Bono was more upset over the comments by Bruno Tonioli than his elimination, and now Cher is speaking out about it all. Read on for more…

Dancing With The Stars fans watched as Chaz Bono was eliminated this week, after some very harsh comments by Bruno Tonioli, where he referred to Chaz as a “penguin,” and many folks, including Chaz Bono found it disrespectful. We knew that Cher would have something to say about it, since it is her son, and she is not happy with the way it all went down this week either. According to People Magazine, in a phone interview, Cher stated: “I just thought they were rude. And it was gratuitous rudeness, and I was just pissed off. I was just really upset. Not that Chaz was voted off, but that they were so disrespectful.”

Cher went on in her interview to chat about Chaz Bono’s transition from female to male, since many viewers were turned off to the show by this. Cher assures us though that Chaz Bono is just like everyone else and she added: “As a mom, you have a child, and then all of a sudden you have a different child. But you have the same child. And so, it’s very hard to kind of twist your mind around to the adjustment. But then, when you look at it and you’re around your child, you just think, no difference. Same child, different wrapping.”

Bruno was very rude and mean to Chaz. Ok he got eliminated but Bruno was VERYunprofessional about it. Chaz worked very hard for a man his age, plus He got hurt on the show. I think Bruno needs to publically apologize to Chaz

I think she is disgusting – I saw the video she made & I thought it was also disgusting! I don’t know much about her new husband, but why would he marry a girl like that! Probably for publicity!

Talk about rough around the edges and “Bully” behavior! The judges are so un-classy. That was name calling in the worse sense of the word. Chaz wasn’t/isn’t talented, can’t dance, however she/he didn’t deserve that terrible humiliation.

I liked the fact that Chaz went out there and danced his heart out. It shows the integrity others might not have. The judges are not funny when their comments hurt someones feelings/ I think that from the beginning the judges have their minds made up on who will go to the finals. that only my opinion But I must say I look forward to mondays and tuesdays. I would love for Hope to go all the way to the end. She gets better every week!!!!!!!

I think it’s important to remember that when Brono behaved that way, he really said very little about Chaz, and a whole lot about himself. A person who ridicules another person like that, or says nasty, or meanspirited things – under any circumstances, for any reason, exposes themselves as being a nasty and meanspirited person. And while his comments have hurt Chaz’s feelings, and really upset Cher, at the end of the day the person those comments hurt the most – was Bruno himself. I also think they hurt the show; what “star” in their right might would come on this show and subject themselves to that kind of meanspirited ridicule? Who needs it? Sadly, I think the producers need to re-consider Bruno’s role on this show as a result of his ill-adivsed comments.
