Dancing With The Stars Recap: Halloween Brings Tricks And Treats On The Dance Floor

October 31, 2011 07:44 PM by Lisa Princ

ABC‘s Dancing With The Stars was back tonight, after Chaz Bono’s elimination last week. Tonight, it was all about Halloween, but who rocked the dance floor? Read on for all the highlights!

Dancing With The Stars kicked off tonight with a Halloween special, complete with decor and costumes! Carrie Ann Inaba donned a cat costume, while Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli dressed up as themselves. Tonight, the couples would be performing one solo routine and one group routine for two sets of scores.

David Arquette and Kym Johnson
David and Kym were up first with a cha cha cha to Abracadabra, and they looked adorable in their magician wear. David really did a great job with the routine this week and we could see definite improvement. Len said that David turned himself into a dancer, and Bruno loved it as well. Carrie Ann told David that his improvement is phenomenal before they dished out the scores. David and Kym scored three 8′s, giving them a 24 for this routine. Total with the team dance was 47.

J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff
J.R. Martinez and Karina performed the Tango tonight to Ghostbusters, and J.R. came out dressed as Ghostbuster, while Karina was the ghost. Bruno kicked off saying that it was another solid performance, even though J.R. lost his timing a few times. Carrie Ann agreed, but said that they captured the theme perfectly, while Len said it was not up to the standard that he expects from J.R. Carrie Ann gave them a 9, while Len and Bruno gave the pair 8′s, totaling 25 points for the solo performance. Total with the team dance was 48.

Nancy Grace and Tristan MacManus
Nancy and Tristan took on the Jive tonight to The Devil Went Down To Georgia, complete with red and black costumes, and a bright red wig for Nancy! Nancy appeared to have fun, but it was very messy. Carrie Ann said it was not a good week, and Nancy came in and out of the choreography. Len Goodman said it was not a good dance for Nancy, and a disappointment. Bruno ended by saying the spirit was right being devilish, but the footwork was devilish (not in a good way). The judges gave them 7′s across the board for a total of 21 points. Total with the team dance was 44.

Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke
Rob and Cheryl were up next on Dancing With The Stars, and they took on a Tango to The Addams Family Theme. Donning black attire, they didn’t look creepy, and thankfully their dancing was not creepy either. The audience loved them, and so did the judges. Len started off telling them it was well done, and Bruno thought Rob looked like a man tonight. Carrie Ann joked about Cheryl’s hair, but gushed that it was Rob’s best dance ever. Carrie Ann gave them a 9, while Len and Bruno gave them an 8 each, bringing them to 25 for the solo routine. Total with the team dance was 51.

Ricki Lake and Derek Hough
Ricki Lake and Derek Hough took on the Paso Doble tonight to Sweet Dreams by Beyonce, and they were dressed in Little Red Riding Hood attire. Ricki and Derek performed almost flawlessly once again. Bruno kicked off by saying it was another incredible performance, while Carrie Ann told them that they were great, but Ricki needed to watch her shoulders. Len loved the shapes that Ricki was making, and continued that he loved it. The judges them three 9′s for a total of 27 points. Total for the team dance was 53.

Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovskiy
Hope Solo and Maks were tackling the Samba to Werewolves In London, but would it be as dramatic as last week? The performance was good, but I can’t help feeling like Hope needs to loosen up a bit. The audience loved it, and Carrie Ann kicked off by saying this was better than their Toy Story performance. Len Goodman said Hope coped well with a very difficult dance, while Bruno said Hope was dancing like her life depended on it. They earned three 8′s for a total of 24. Total with the team dance was 50.

Next up were the team dances. Performing the Tango were J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff, David Arquette and Kym Johnson, and Nancy and Tristan. The group performed to Disturbia, donning straight jackets. J.R. once again proved why is a front runner in this competition, while David still showed signs of improvement in his dancing. Len kicked off saying that the group performance was great, but the singles were disasters, and Bruno agreed. Carrie Ann thought they started out well, but things got messy. The team got an 8 from Carrie Ann, a 7 from Len and an 8 from Bruno.

Derek Hough and Ricki Lake, Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, and Cheryl Burke and Rob Kardashian danced the Paso Doble to Bring Me To Life, donning spooky black attire. This group looked much better than the other group as a whole. Bruno kicked off saying it was powerful, dramatic and a perfect ending. Carrie Ann called it powerful and dramatic as well, while Len thought the individual parts were fantastic, and he loved it. This group earned two 9′s from Carrie Ann and Bruno, while Len gave them an 8.

Remember to cast your votes! Ricki Lake and Derek Hough were in the top spot tonight, while Nancy Grace and Tristan MacManus fell to the bottom spot. Tune in tomorrow to find out which couple will be eliminated!

    Hope has GOT to go!
She has a terrible attitude not to mention the fact that she is flat-footed and can’t dance.

I am amazed that at no time while Chaz Bono was performing on Dancing with the stars did he (it) ever give Lacey any type of credit for being a great teacher/ partner. Even when he (it) was getting voted off it was “me”-”me” “me & people like me”.. Get over yourself & Len would not have made the comment about the Penguin if it didn’t look & perform like a Penguin.. I love Cher Bono to pieces. Too bad for Chaz.
