This week on The X Factor, one contestant was snagged lip syncing during a performance, but it’s not what you think. In fact, most singing competitions include lip syncing for certain performances. Who was it and what happened? Read on to find out!
The X Factor‘s Leroy Bell was caught obviously lip syncing during the group performance of Without You this week, but this tactic being used during group performances is more common than you think. Despite the fact that some may call it a scandal, it is actually a common practice, as Fox released this statement after the incident: “All competitive songs, including survival songs, are performed LIVE to a backing track.”
But this was not a competitive song, and they also stated: “Due to the finalists’ extensive preparation for their Wednesday night performances, the opening ensemble number on the results show is pre-recorded, the same way as on other shows.” While no other shows were named, we bet it’s safe to assume that American Idol is the other show in question. So, to everyone looking for a scandal, apparently there is none. Who knew lip syncing was used so frequently? We didn’t, but we can understand why they do it!
Be sure to tune in Wednesday to The X Factor on FOX as the top 11 finalists will take the stage to win your votes!
