Last night, on the CMA Awards, NBC‘s The Voice mentor, Blake Shelton took home the award for Male Vocalist Of The Year for a second time. After the show, Blake revealed that he was shocked to be awarded again. Read on for more on Blake’s thoughts!
The Voice’s Blake Shelton is no stranger to the CMA awards, as last year he won Male Vocalist Of The Year, and last night, Blake was shocked to learn that he would be taking home the very same award for the second year in a row. Blake Shelton told Access Hollywood of winning the award again: “I am beyond shocked! As shocked as I was last year, in the back of your mind you think — last year anyways – ‘Maybe I’ll win this because I’m the underdog. People in the industry feel sorry for me after all these years.’ Then it happened. So this year I thought, ‘Well, they’re not going to play that card again!’”
And Blake Shelton wasn’t the only lucky one last night, as his wife, Miranda Lambert took home her second award for Female Vocalist Of The Year. Blake Shelton said that Miranda did not believe it, adding: “Miranda came and she sat down next to me and goes, ‘Is this crazy? Did you pay somebody or something?’” So how does it feel to be the Male Vocalist of The Year? According to Blake Shelton: “Being CMA’s male vocalist of the year one time is enough to make everything worth it. To be that twice is – listen to me, I’m speechless.”
The Voice’s second season premiere will take place right after the Superbowl on Sunday, February 5, 2012 and will then move to Mondays at 8 pm EST starting on Feb. 6! Are you excited for the show’s second season? We sure are!
