This week on ABC‘s Dancing With The Stars, we watched as veteran and star of All My Children, J.R. Martinez danced his way to perfect scores and made it to the semi-finals. In honor of Veteran’s Day, J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff took some time out of their rehearsals to give some dance lessons to service men and women! Read on for more…
From the start of season 13 of Dancing With The Stars, war veteran and actor, J.R. Martinez has won over viewers with his story of triumph over tragedy, as Martinez suffered burns while serving in Iraq. Today, J.R. Martinez wants to bring the power of dance to other service men and women, just in time for Veteran’s Day. J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff were snagged teaching some other vets their fancy footwork, and J.R. told Entertainment Tonight: “My dancing partner and I actually talked about how we think this is something that will be very therapeutic for a lot of troops and a lot of families. You know, it would be one way that they, together, can kind of do something brand new.”
This is not the first time that J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff honored those in the service, as back in week three, the pair performed a Rumba in honor of all those fallen soldiers and military families, which was the start of J.R. Martinez’s rise to becoming a fan favorite on the show. His partner, Karina Smirnoff, is also honored to be a part of teaching the veterans as well, as she told Entertainment Tonight: “It’s fun. It takes your mind off of everything else. You’re doing something as a team, too. So it brings people closer together.”
Kudos to J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff! We can’t wait to see this pair perform again on Monday! Did you love J.R. and Karina’s performances this week? Do you think they will take home the mirror ball trophy? Comment and share your thoughts with us below!
