Ozzy Osbourne-led Black Sabbath Creates New Album

November 14, 2011 05:51 PM by Amanda Christensen

For the first time in three decades the members of Black Sabbath will join together to create a new album. Ozzy Osbourne,  Geezer Butler, Bill Ward, and Tony Iommi will debut their work in 2012. Whether best known as legends, gods, icons or titans, the heavy metal world is awaiting the release of this latest work and counting the days to their tour kick off (no firm dates as of yet).

The past three decades have been filled with many attempts for the original members to get together, but rarely has this occurred. The group did join in 2004 and 2005 to headline at Ozzfest, however members of the group at that time were focusing on solo projects, perhaps most famously is Ozzy Osbourne’s project, The Osbournes.

Many speculate that the timing of this venture is particularly odd given that Ozzy Osbourne and Tony Iommi had a public feud last year over the rights to the Black Sabbath name. The dispute was settled upon undisclosed terms.

Perhaps the biggest question the heavy metal world is asking is can they actually perform throughout the tour. Touring takes a huge toll on the youngest performers, and the members of Black Sabbath aren’t exactly spring chickens. Ozzy is the youngest member of the band and has had his share of health battles. Ward had to sit out a tour 14 years ago due to heart trouble.

Regardless of age, personal disputes between the band members, there is no doubt heavy metal fans will be waiting not-so-patiently for the return of Black Sabbath.
