Elisabeth Hasselbeck is known for her debates on The View, and this time, the former Survivor contestant took on Bill Maher. What angered Elisabeth so much that it left Bill Maher saying she had a bug up her butt? Read on to find out!
On Tuesday’s episode of The View, Bill Maher made an appearance to promote his new book, but before he could, Elisabeth Hasselbeck jumped on him for a joke he made about her. In an episode of his HBO show back in February, Bill Maher discussed the Egyptian protests in Tahrir Square, and said: “New rule – now that Hosni Mubarak has released Lara Logan: he must put her intrepid hotness on a plane immediately. In exchange, we will send Elisabeth Hasselbeck.” But Elisabeth Hasselbeck was not going to take that one quietly, as she fired back at Maher on Tuesday when she told him that she was offended by the joke, adding: “You can’t sit here right now and tell me I’m wrong for saying, ‘That wasn’t that funny.’”
Bill Maher replied to Elisabeth Hasselbeck as he told her: “We do a comedy show for an audience that’s perhaps different than your audience. You are a public figure. It was not aimed at you personally, but when you are a public figure, you are out there and you’re fodder for comedians to make comments on.” And when Bill Maher made an appearance to David Letterman after the debate with Elisabeth Hasselbeck, he told Letterman that Elisabeth had “a bug up her ass,” and that she made him feel “like a teenage boy at Penn State.” In the end, Bill Maher made it appear to David Letterman that he and Elisabeth Hasselbeck really do like each other, but she has yet to comment on that!
