Tonight on ABC it’s the Dancing With The Stars finale. Last night the final three couples gave it their all in the ballroom. So who is taking home the mirror ball trophy? Keep reading to find out who won season 13 of Dancing With The Stars.
The show kicks off with the entire cast of Dancing With The Stars performing a routine. It really shows how far the three finalists have come this season.
A short recap of last night’s dances is next. Ricki and Derek had another great night last night. “I will cherish this experience,” Ricki gushes to Derek. Up next are Cheryl and Rob who finished on top of the leader board last night. “Out of all the partners I have had, I’m most proud of you,” Cheryl tells Rob after their freestyle. Last we have J.R. and Karina who didn’t do well in the first dance, but blew the judges away in the freestyle. “We nailed it,” J.R. whispers to Karina.
It’s now onto the final round of competition. Yes, the competition is still going on! Each team will have to pick their favorite dance of the season and perform it again. Ricki Lake and Derek Hough are up first. The couple chooses to perform the tango again to the Psycho theme song. “This is one of the most memorable dances of the season,” Len tells the duo. Dramatic and passionate are the other words the judges use. Up next are Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke, who are currently at the top of the leader board. Rob chooses the fox trot, since the song means a lot to him because of his dad. Rob had one minor slip up, but recovered beautifully. His dancing has truly improved week after week. Rob’s performance brings tears to his mother’s eye. “You really have improved beyond everyone expectations,” Bruno tells Rob. Len gives the final compliment, “You have the best footwork out of all the guys I have seen on this show ever.” The last couple up is J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff who choose to perform the jive. Carrie Ann Inaba tells J.R. “you are a catalyst of joy.” The judges now rank the final performances from first to third place. Rob and Cheryl come in third, J.R. and Karina place second, which means Ricki and Derek win the final dance.
It’s time to reveal which couple has landed in third place after an entire season of dancing. The final three couples take to the stage and await the results. Tom announces that the couple in third place is Ricki and Derek! Wow!
Ricki tells the audience, “I loved every minute of this. I have done something I really didn’t think I could do.” The crowd gives Ricki and Derek a standing ovation, while a montage of her experience is shown on the large screen. Ricki lays her head on Derek’s shoulder and tears up while watching the montage. Derek adds, “It has been a fantastic season. She is an absolute winner.”
Now the mirror ball trophy belongs to either Rob Kardashian or J.R. Martinez. The two will now compete in another dance! Their final battle will be an instant samba.
While the two finalists prepare for their dances, the former contestants of the season hit the dance floor. Chynna Phillips is even back to prove to herself she can get through the dance she blanked on earlier in the season. Of course, the highlight performance is Carson Kressley performing to Madonna’s Vogue.
Back to the dancing competition! J.R. and Karina are up first with their instant samba. Cheryl and Rob immediately follow with their version of the Samba. Let’s see what the judges have to say. Len gives both the teams a standing ovation for all their work this season. Lens says that both couples were brilliant and Carrie Ann agrees that this was a great way to end the season.
The judges give their final scores of the season. The judges award J.R. and Karina’s samba with a perfect 30. As for Rob and Cheryl they receive a perfect score as well. So who is the new champion of Dancing With The Stars? Both the couples take to the stage and await the final results. The lights dim and the music starts, Tom announces that the winners of season 13 of Dancing With The Stars are… J.R. and Karina! The two embrace and the crowd goes wild.
“I want to thank everyone who voted for us,” J.R. tells Tom. As for Rob and Cheryl they feel that they won by just having this experience.
