Dancing With The Stars fans watched last night as J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff took the win and the mirror ball trophy, beating out Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke, who had a higher judges’ score. All season long, J.R. Martinez has inspired viewers, so it comes as no surprise to us that he walked away as the season 13 champion, and J.R. gushed after the show that it is an “amazing feeling” to be crowned the winner. J.R. Martinez also told the press after the finale: “We just want to thank everyone at home who voted for us every single week, and believing in us when I had a bad week and whatever it may be. Thank you for pushing us through and giving us an opportunity to win this trophy.”
While America may have been thanking J.R. Martinez for serving in Iraq, the tables were turned last night as J.R. said: “Just as much as we’re enjoying this and holding this, thank you America for being a part of the journey as well.” J.R. Martinez also went on to gush about his partner, Karina Smirnoff as he added: “It’s amazing that I was able to be a part of that journey where she gets her first mirrorball trophy. She deserves it. Outside of a great dancer, she’s a great person. She’s beautiful on the outside of course, but she’s beautiful on the inside.”
