November 28, 2011 10:00 AM by Lisa Princ

While Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler, and Randy Jackson are busy with auditions for the new season of American Idol on FOX, Nigel Lythgoe recently revealed some details about what we can expect in the new season. Nigel said there will not be any major changes for season eleven, but what can we expect? Read on for more…

If you are anxiously awaiting the season eleven premiere of American Idol, the wait is almost over. The show will premiere in January, and Nigel Lythgoe recently chatted with the press about the upcoming season, in which he said: “I think we made a lot of tweaks last year. I’m not sure that we want to make too many more tweaks this year.” Nigel Lythgoe went on to share that Jimmy Iovine will be returning for season eleven to mentor the contestants, just as he did in season ten.

Nigel Lythgoe also chatted about the auditions, and the season eleven contestants, of whom he said: “The kids that have auditioned this year that we’re going to be taking to Hollywood in December are again really talented and really diverse. Hopefully they’ll get through one of the toughest auditions, which is the Hollywood week, and get themselves into the top 20.” We can’t help but wonder if Alex Wong of So You Think You Can Dance will be in the top 20, although rumor has it that he has moved on from the auditions.
