On tonight’s episode of Top Chef: Texas, the culinarians cook a meal using ingredients found inside a basic survival and kit then vist an affluent Dallas community to serve a fancy spread for a high-society dinner party.
The 14 competing chefs on the Bravo reality TV show include: Dakota Weiss, Chuy Valencia, Heather Terhune, Whitney Otawka, Sarah Grueneberg, Chris Jones, Chris Crary, Ty-Lor Boring, Nyesha Arrington, Lindsay Autry, Beverly Kim, Paul Qui, Edward Lee and Grayson Schmitz.
On tonight’s Quickfire challenge the remaining chefs are driving down the road and then told to pull over on the side of the road by an officer. Once they get closer they see host Padma Lakshmi and restaurateur and Chef John Besh. The competitors are told they will have to make a dish from a basic survival kit. Guest judge John Besh selected Lindsay as the challenge winner who received $5,000 and immunity.
Next, the chefs find out three families will be partaking in a progressive dinner where the guests move from home to home to eat each course. The contestants meet with the couple’s hosting the event to find out what their style is and what type of food they want at the party. The chefs then dash off to the grocery store to pick up their ingredients. Back in Dallas, the chefs work to complete the components they are cooking for the dinner party. The couples along with Padma, guest judges John Besh and Gail Simmons; along with head judge Tom Colicchio taste the dishes the chefs prepared.
The winner of the dinner is Paul. The prizes the chefs are competing for include $125,000; a feature in Food & Wine magazine and the title of ‘Top Chef.’ After deliberating, the judges decide to send Chuy Valencia home; however he along with the other eliminated chefs have the opportunity to win back a spot on the Top Chef finale.
