19 Kids and Counting’s Michelle Duggar Suffers Miscarriage

December 08, 2011 04:26 PM by Perry Miller

Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar, star of TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting, announced today that Michelle has suffered a miscarriage. During a routine doctor’s visit to find out the sex of  her 20th child, the doctor did not detect a heartbeat and concluded that a miscarriage had occurred.

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar announced that they were expecting their 20th child in November.  Thrilled and excited, Michelle Duggar thought her days of being pregnant had come to an end.

Their reality show underwent a name change in 2009 with the arrival of the Duggar’s 19th child, Josie. In her early 40′s when pregnant with Josie, Michelle Duggar suffered a wide array of complications from gall bladder problems and pre-eclampsia.  Knowing the baby was in danger doctors delivered Josie Duggar 3 1/2 months early weighing only 1 pound 6 ounces.  She suffered multiple medical emergencies, but is now a healthy, happy toddler.

During Josie Duggar’s homecoming the couple said that they would welcome another baby, even after all that they had gone through with their latest addition.  After suffering a miscarriage during her second pregnancy, which Michelle Duggar blamed on oral contraception, the couple decided to leave the size of their family up to God.

Even while receiving backlash at what could be perceived as a “problem pregnancy” the couple remained outspoken and determined that this was the plan that God intended for them.

A day that began with tremendous joy has ended in heartbreak.

“I feel like my heart broke telling my children,” says Michelle told People Magazine. “They have all been so excited about this baby and looking forward to April coming around and having a new little one in our arms. That was the most difficult. The Lord is the giver of life and he can choose when that life is ready to go on and be with Him.”

Well maybe it is time they stop now before they end up having a child with a serious handicap. 19 is way more than enough . Any person in their right mind does not try to procreate when the woman is at such a mature age. It is a sign from god!

    Dearest Dugger family,

I wanted to tell you how very sorry I am to hear of your loss. It is of no secret to you that our Lord has all of us in his watch. Our days, hours and minutes here are measured by him. Even in your sorrow, do not be disparing… What is his plan is yet for you to know. My family and I have watched your show, and watched your sweet family grow from the beginning. We live near you in Grove Oklahoma. You blessed us with your witness and beautiful voices during a special event at our church in Jay Okla. We are praying for you to find joy in your family, comfort in knowing your child is indeed born, lives and is looking forward to the day you will all be together. Blessings, love and encouragement to each and everyone…Sheryl D.

I thought this or worse would happen. The human body can only do so much for so long. The Duggars got a warning with what happened with Josie. They need to consider if they want Michelle to be around for the 19 kids or leave this earth while trying for a 20th one.

19 children not enough? Greedy, selfish. When Octomom popped out her brood everyone went balistic (as all sane people should have)….so, why is everyone so “thrilled” about this couple having baby after baby after baby? It’s greed….they want the TV attention….what happens when the TV’s go away and people lose interest in the baby making machine? Coming from a big family myself I know that the “kids” are all mini-moms and dads….cleaning, babysitting, and doing mom and dad’s jobs instead of being kids. With that many kids I have to wonder how many of them get any real quality time with just mom or just dad. It’s selfish and greedy is all.

I agree that 19 children is way more than enough but who are any of us to tell a person to stop having kids? if they can afford them it is none of our business. so please stop with the cussing at vthis family. God gave a precious gift and he took it away for his own reasons. i pray for the Duggar family and hope the best for them all. god bless you and yours and may god help the duggars see past some ofthese terrible comments. if given the chance i would have aqs many children as god would allow me but he only gave me 1 biological and i have a step son and alwo an adoptive child so people wake up if a person wants a million kids its none of our business.

More power to her with 19 kids. I am not to judge but maybe God is trying to tell her enough is enough. Why isn’t she thankful for what she’s got instead of having more and more. I mean really if she wants more why not adopt some poor little child that has no family.

I knew this would happen. A woman’s uterus is not made to be inflated and deflated like a friggin balloon 18 times. The doctors told her she was high risk, yet she went galavanting around europe and in the meantime Josie got really sick and couldn’t fly home with the rest of the family. How stupid! that baby is still at great risk of illness and disease. she is 45 years old for God’s sake. Not only the risk of having a ruptured uterus but the risk of a baby with severe deformaties and mental retardation. Now the fetus is dead inside of her body and she is at such risk of bleeding to death if they induced labor to expell the fetus, they are requiring her to “hold” the dead fetus in her body and let “nature” take it course and expell the “baby”. OMG…does this not set up a perfect senario for some kind of horrible infection to set in; ie: peritonitis or blood infection? She needs to have a hysterectomy ASAP!!! enough is enough!!! …and that darn Bates family from the hills of Tennessee is hot on their heels! Just a matter of time for them too!

While I offer my sympathy for the loss of this child i am going to have to say..,maybe they should consider this a message,,,,enough,,,,they had so many problems with Josie and thank goodness she is now healthy but, they are now risking having a child with serious health issues or even one that could be mentally challenged, or even risking Michell’s life. And then those kids will be raised with out a mom,,,please for the sake of your kids and your own life stop now,,,,if you want more adopt,,lots of kids needs family,,please.

Kerra, who are you to say, enough already to anyone? The Duggars are God’s very special people. They’re living according to God’s will..not yours. Do you know that when you take birth control to prevent conception, it’s against God. Killing the unborn..another way to control birth…is seriously against God. We’re all guilty of this in some way because we can’t afford or see ourselves with large families like the Duggars.. But, they’re going to be rewarded for their fruitful blessings. And too, look at those children, they’re always perfectly dressed, a beautiful home, great parents, and they walk with the Lord. They’re better than most. I’m proud of this family and have a great respect for them.
