Rod Blagojevich Finds Support At Home After Being Sentenced To 14 Years In Prison

December 08, 2011 09:37 AM by Lisa Princ

Rod Blagojevich, of NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice received the news yesterday that he was being sentenced to 14 years in prison, after being convicted back in June of 17 separate felonies, including bribery and extortion. The former governor of Illinois returned to his home yesterday after receiving his sentence, where he was flooded with support, and questions! Read on for more…

Rod Blagojevich, who was convicted of 17 felonies back in June, which included trying to sell Barack Obama’s vacant Senate seat after he was elected president in 2008, received a sentence of 14 years yesterday, despite his pleas. During his sentencing, Rod Blagojevich stated: “I’ve had plenty of time to reflect on all that’s happened…I’m here convicted of crimes and I am accepting of it, I acknowledge it. I am of course unbelievably sorry.” But that was not enough to get the former governor off the hook, and a devastated Rod Blagojevich returned home after his sentencing to find swarms of people supporting him and attempting to question him.

One fan was in tears as she watched Rod Blagojevich and his wife return home, which led her to scream to the former governor in support: “I went through chemo, radiation, my brother was in Joliet. You can do it, man!” Another supporter, who asked Blagojevich to sign his book, went on to tell the media: “I’m a supporter of the former governor and everything – the charges, the impeachment, the guilty verdict and this extreme sentence – is a miscarriage of justice. The truth was in his book.”

And while Rod Blagojevich did manage to sign the book for his supporter, he refused to answer the hounding reporters’ questions. As his supporters continued to shout positive comments such as: “Keep your head up,” “We’re with you buddy,” and “We love you governor,” Rob Blagojevich scurried through the crowd into his home with his wife, but not without a quick “Thank you” to all his supporters.

What a joke! You get less time for murder. All politics is corrupt not just this man! Hope there’s an appeal!

He does need to serve time but the sentence is way too harsh. OMG, rapists and murders have served less time. I think 2 to 3 years would have been enough to make him repent.
