Survivor: South Pacific, the show’s 23rd season, is about to come to a close. One castaway is soon going to be a millionaire as the finale arrives this Sunday on CBS. What can you expect from the final episode? What are our plans on covering it? Read on to find out!
As is typical, the big finale is made up of three jam-packed hours of television. The first two hours are filled with footage from the final days in Samoa. Then host Jeff Probst will announce the winner before a live studio audience from CBS Television City in Los Angeles. After the winner is crowned, Probst will host the live one-hour reunion show.
For those of you who thought we might get away without seeing Russell Hantz this season, I’d be willing to bet he’s in the audience for this finale. If he’s not interviewed briefly by Probst to comment on Brandon’s performance, he will at least be shown on screen several times. But you can put money on seeing him in the audience. I’d be shocked if he’s not there.
The live reunion show should also bring some interesting comments from Keith and Whitney who fell in love while competing on the show. If Probst gives them enough time to even discuss it, Keith and Whitney both promise to clear the air about their relationship, which drew headlines earlier this year when it was revealed that Whitney was married before she left to compete on the show. Should be interesting.
At the end of the reunion show, Probst will announce the title of season 24, which has been widely reported as Survivor: One World. The season, which has already completely wrapped production, is rumored to feature 18 all-new castaways living as two separate tribes (divided by gender) on the same beach. Survivor 24 was filmed in Samoa, which marks the fourth time CBS has used this location. It will premiere at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2012.
As I have done since season 13 — the first time Ozzy competed on the show — I will be sitting in the studio audience to give you a glimpse inside the finale. Immediately after the show comes to a close, I will head out to the red carpet to interview the top contestants about their experience on the show. Be sure to stay tuned with us for all of those exclusive video interviews in the days following the finale.
The finale begins at 8 p.m. on CBS.
Are you excited for the finale? Who do you think will outwit, outplay and outlast all the others to become the sole Survivor? Who do you think deserves to win the $1 million prize? What questions do you want me to ask on the red carpet? What do you think Whitney and Keith will say about their relationship outside of the game during the live reunion show? Do you even care? Sound off and leave a comment below!
